Universal Basic Income would mean all of the 77,500 people would receive an extra $500 per month. This 'program' is a five hundred dollar raise to welfare payments.
It's stupid - and should be renamed: "Extra Five Hundred Dollars for Welfare recipients".

There is a shortage of truck drivers...
However, the biggest reason so few are being hired is because they can NOT pass drug testing.
Truckers get randomly tested quite often. Test dirty-—you are gone—on the spot.
That $500 a month won’t change anything about the lives of the people who get it. They might get a few more bottles of booze, a few more rocks or more of whatever their drug of choice might be. That money will help enable them to continue their destructive lifestyle.
