As an EMT I am interested in keeping someone alive until I can get them to more advanced care.
I carry QuikClot Combat Gauze and did use it on a fairly bad scalp wound and it did work.
Nightmare is a severed carotid.
Weird, I just was thinking, while carrying a knife, that it’s amazing that more people don’t accidently kill themselves while carrying knives. This is like that.
I believe that was one Mr. Lazamataz. Maybe he can confirm or deny it.

I had a near miss falling onto a stick in the woods. Missed the jugular by 1.5 mm. Afterwards I bought some clotting gauze that you are supposed to shove into the wound and carry with me along with other first aid stuff. Hope that I never need it.
The ER doc said with the jugular - you still have another on the other side. He said it’s a lot worse if you pierce the windpipe. I don’t know. I’m trying very hard in the future not to do either.
