(Vanity) Apple's Live streaming 'Special Event'
Apple ^

Posted on 06/04/2018 10:36:28 AM PDT by neverevergiveup

Does anyone else think that these Apple 'Special Events' have become so contrived that they seem somewhat like a computer equivalent of 'Spinal Tap'? My home page is the Apple home page (I just never changed it) and when I opened my browser the live streaming event automatically started (I wouldn't have 'tuned in' to this without it automatically opening). If you work in the field I can understand that this might be important, but the format just seems so dated now..

Tim Cook is no Steve Jobs. Jobs was a master at these presentations, even when gaunt and weakened by chemo.

If you don’t want Apple information, change your home page.

It’s an opportunity to show off new products or features.
The PC world has the same kind of events.
Nothing contrived about any of these events.

I noticed at the Apple site that the screens on their products have bright colors. People are attracted to bright colors. I think lemmings too... : )

I like dull so I stay with Windows : )

“Nothing contrived about any of these events.”

I understand the marketing aspect of all this. It's just that it's so much ‘theatre’. When my home screen linked to the event there was a woman on talking about ‘if you're an NPR junkie, like me’ - and then going on to show some iPhone app for NPR junkies. It's just too much.

There is an amazing amount of information provided during these events. I don’t get put off by the format at all.

The multi-media presentation explain greatly how each now app or service will play out for end users. It’s really an amazing production.

I don’t own a mack, but the presentation works to inform Mac users, and also to demonstrate the abilities of the Mac, for folks who may not know much about it.

Anyone not wanted to watch any of this is free to opt out.

I’m not aware of a better way to do what they are accomplishing with these events.

I enjoy them, and don’t have any complaints whatsoever.

Are they Leftist oriented? Yes. Is that going to prevent me from entering the 21st Century with them, so that I can be more productive?

No.
