Five former Houston Texans cheerleaders are suing the NFL franchise, alleging the team failed to fully compensate them as required by law and subjected them to hostile work environment in which they were harassed, intimidated and forced to live in fear. The lawsuit was filed Friday in Houston federal court. At a news conference, Hannah Turnbow said she and other cheerleaders were treated "the lowest of the low."

At this point the stripperscheerleaders are more trouble than they are worth. Get rid of the squads.

The NFL is more trouble than they’re worth. That’s why I stopped watching.

Does anyone really pay attention to cheerleaders? Other than that, FUNFL.

I see them as sex workers. OK by me. As long as they don’t have to lecture me on things they know nothing about like the NFL players do.

These girls might have been taken series, then they threw it all away hiring that piece of mold Gloria Allred to do their dirty work.

Okay, wanting full pay is one thing, that probably requires court (and that's assuming they weren't being paid what they were promised), but "subjected them to hostile work environment in which they were harassed, intimidated and forced to live in fear."?

One does not become an NFL cheerleader as a career choice, one does it in order to be exposed to glamour, get new opportunities, put on the resume, and as an intriguing bullet-point on match.com.

The NFL could fire the whole lot of them, advertise for cheerleaders promising next to no pay, a hostile work environment, intimidation and even fear, and it would still have ten acceptable applicants for each available position.

They could also dump the whole cheerleader thing. The modern version was a dumb idea brought on by some opportunistic expansion team that wanted to make a sleazy version of a college tradition and monetize it. They succeeded, to the detriment of the sport.

When cheerleaders were cheelreaders:

Sex workers want more pay?! Don't like the jobs, didn't get married via it? Then quit, I'm sure there is a long line of sex workers waiting to take their place.

And these are ex-cheerleaders suing for low pay?! What, they expect pay AFTER quitting?

There’s a bit of irony in this. Cheerleaders are just one byproduct of a TV-oriented business model. Football is actually a dull game to watch — especially in person. There are so many gaps in the action to accommodate TV ads, these teams feel compelled to entertain the fans who watch at the stadium.

Pay? My bro-in-laws brother was married to a Redskinette... nice girl, bank manager (all the ladies were career professionals) and back then it was pro-bono, but fund raiser’s and some donations paid for a few trips and other odds and ends.

We would get a calendar every Christmas.

I ran into a few Tennessee Titan cheerleaders at a Walmart in Cooksville once, we had a nice chat and their circumstances were much the same as the redskinettes. So, they were out drumming up some support money.

This article was the first I have ever heard of cheer sections getting paid, Per se. Maybe it’s just a term they use but in days gone by it wasn’t a paid position.

Don’t compare Gloria Allred to mold. Mold gives us penicillin and cures us of disease. Gloria All-Red IS disease.

What a great idea. You take a job and then you turn around and sue the employer for not paying you enough. Why didn't I ever think of doing that?

Their job was to ‘entertain’ the big-money men. What part of that did they not understand?

There is exactly one semi-cute girl in the picture. Must have been a northern team. ;)

(I was born and raised in the Great lakes region, traveled extensively, lived in the west and south— there is a distinct difference in the female populations of those areas.)

Surely these women did not expect to earn a living in this world on the sidelines of a football field, shaking their bosoms and buns. Even for Fake Blondes, that is really dumb.
