I think that given the current lunatic hypersensitivity to just about anything controversial - and the ‘activists’ who are just drooling to get hold of something like this - they could well want to distance themselves from a ‘property’ which might offend segments of a public that has brought in a billion dollars.

I think the real reason is more likely who is currently the President of ABC.

And she's from California as well.

This is about personal pique. Just my sizeup of the situation.

I think Michael Eisner is the guy who started Disney down this path. If I recall correctly, he was the one that started the "gay" day at Disney.

I think you’ll find the same reaction in lots of different companies.

If your point is that Corporate America has become far too Politically Correct, then I agree.

My observation of different periods of history indicates this is not a new phenomena. The French revolution was agitated and funded by the children and wives of the French aristocrats.

Extreme wealth tends to begat Liberalism.

Yeah, he was unfortunately the guy who started Gay Days. That being said, at least HE tried to keep leftism out of Disney’s films (probably the closest it ever got to left-wing territory under his direction was with Hunchback of Notre Dame), which is a heck of a lot more than what Bob Iger did, where he if anything doubled down on the rampant leftism in not just Disney-acquired properties, but even things made by Disney directly.

BTW, I’m not counting Beauty and the Beast regarding leftism being pushed, since that was more the fault of Jeffrey Katzenberg than Michael Eisner (heck, Eisner if anything approved of the Jim Cox draft of Beauty and the Beast, which actually was very close to the morals of the original tale, and it was Katzenberg who nixed it, and ultimately turned it into that leftist feminist screed by Linda Woolverton that bore very little commonality to the actual tale.).

Well, okay, THOND and possibly also Atlantis: The Lost Empire if we go by Roarke’s attempt at gaining the crystal to make himself rich as an anti-capitalist statement (though to be fair, the guy who actually funded the exhibition was treated pretty decently, and was also an implied capitalist).

That's an important point.

But my main point on this thread has been that Barr used poor judgment here. This very outspoken and usually unapologetic woman HAS apologized. That leads me to think that she recognizes that it was a mistake which, for whatever reason, she made when she wasn't thinking as clearly as she might have been.

This was not 'a hill to die on', as the Freepers like to say. Unless there is some underlying purpose, it accomplished nothing but to make a mess and confuse future efforts to make strides.

(I'm not sure about wealth begetting liberalism: individuals make choices, and there are a lot of good, conservative, wealthy people in the world. I will admit that wealth can make life rather complex ;-)

You would have to be a racist to think that the tweet was racist (or spineless).

If her intent was to keep the status quo, then yes she did. I see it bandied about that she did this with the intent of breaking it away from ABC, but I very much doubt that is true.

Yes there are, and they probably have a common sense edge over their opposition. There are exceptional people in every society, and it is quite possible that some people are immune to the charms of social approval from their "peer" group, but I don't think most people are.

Also, I think the problem tends to affect those people who were raised in wealth but did not earn it themselves, or for people for whom it came far too easily.

I will point out that Murdock's sons are quite a bit more liberal than he, and for awhile there it looked like they were going to pull the plug on conservative people on Fox altogether.

And yes, Roseanne blundered. Badly it seems.

I sorta doubt it, too.

Most level headed people could look at Jarrett and SEE that she has MORE than a passing resemblance to the advanced apes in Planet of the apes.

Most reasonable people wouldn't think of making the comparison.

Dan Gainor of the Media Research Center says that liberals who lost their jobs in media downsizing moved to the communications departments of major corporations. He says this is why we are seeing many companies take increasingly liberal positions on social issues.

I’m with you! Whatever happened to “sticks and stones...?” Plus they say much worse stuff about Christians and conservatives. So sick of all the conservative pussies apologizing on TV and in the media.

BTW, I lived in Alabama for 3 years as an Air Force brat (Craig AFB), so Roll Tide!

Exactly. Some people may think that I may be too aggressive but I believe that many on the left would like to see us destroyed, one way or another. If they don’t believe it, just ask Steve Scalise.

I firmly believe that we are in a “cold” Civil War that is dangerously close to becoming a “hot” one.

As I stated to someone else, I’m not a huge fan of Roseanne but the way the left is literally trying to destroy her is downright Orwellian.

First the outrage over Tommy Robinson and now this. I am beyond sick of the double standards and conservatives refusing to fight back.

I hope you enjoyed your stay in Alabama. Roll Tide Roll!!
