Once again, the smug elites at the NYT write about the South - trying with all their might to understand it - as if it’s some weird, alien place, some recently discovered island that’s never before had contact with modern civilization.
I suspect you haven't had a really good fresh bagel. But, we all have certain things we don't like - for me it's croissants, so the whole "cronut" thing left me cold.
But bagels, Chik-fil-a, northern diners, waffle house - love em all. That's true diversity!
And not only did New Yorkers stand on line for "cronuts" a few years ago - now they stand on line for the few Chik-fil-a locations that have opened in the city, despite the stupid antipathy of mayor de-commie-o.
Hash browns? Hash browns? Grits baby, Georgia ice cream.
Big lollipop of grits and over light eggs on top, cut in and mixed. Yeah!

I lived in NYC in the eighties. Going to work in the morning I tried to assimilate my getting the requisite bagel with a shmear and a coffee light. They were just to dense and sat like a rock in my stomach till noon. But the good ones are tasty.
There is wonderful regional food everywhere I’ve ever been in this great country.
