Kanye West‘s recent tweets praising Donald Trump have caused controversy online, with many of the rapper’s music peers speaking out about their thoughts on the matter.

On Twitter over the past few days, Kanye has said that he “loves” Trump, called the US President his “brother”, shared a photo of himself wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat and hit out at Barack Obama.

Trump himself has responded by thanking West and saying that his recent Twitter activity had been “very cool”.

The Kardashian ‘brand’ will cast him off. But he would be better off.

He will be dealt with swiftly by the party of death, taxes and slavery...before he starts a trend.

“Monae added: “I believe in free thinking, but I don’t believe in free thinking if it’s rooted in or at the expense of the oppressed.”

To put this DNC-supplied response another way:

“I believe in free thinking, but I don’t believe in free thinking if I don’t agree with it.”

Today’s “music world” produces little more than orgies of ingratitude, blasphemy, perversion, narcissism and rage.

As nearly as I can tell the one thing it does NOT produce is music!

There hasn’t been a “music” world in the USA since the ‘70s — maybe early ‘80s. Today’s stuff... I’ve heard music, and that ain’t music.

Didn’t he want to run for POTUS in 2020 and as a Democrat?

What I love about the music world is that they all fancy themselves rebels and free thinkers and yet the large majority of them are on the Democratic plantation and no one is allowed to get off without being castigated.

You are free to have an opinion as long as it’s the same as mine!!!

There is a LOT of really good and interesting new music today. It's also not hard to find it...type in any search engine or listen to XM's Underground Garage or other channels.

But you have to LOOK for it.

I challenge us older types to go to a bar or club and catch 5 acts for $10. In NYC you can go on Bleeker St any night and do this...I used to gig at The Elbow Room (now a CVS...RIP) and, yes, a few of the bands will suck but you may find that the Death of Music is not here yet. Maybe you'll pay $10 for a CD or shirt and keep things moving (my latest CD additions are from punk bands in Maine and Philadelphia). Yaelle recently wrote of her college-age son getting involved in a program where you paying a fixed amount and you can get into any participating club for free. On a larger scale, go to a show of 1000-1500 people and catch some new acts.

There is equally no shortage of boring old people blogging that Rock is Dead while listening to The Stranger and The Last Waltz (yet again) on their iPad. I love The Who but even Daltrey said he's tiring of singing some songs. Be part of the solution, not the problem!

Classic Rock is 50 years old or older. For all the boomers who came of age in the 60’s and 70’s, just imagine you’re in your late teens to early twenties again, back in the 60’s and 70’s and half the radio stations are playing music from the 20’s or even older, and old folks are running around claiming that music from the 20’s or even older is the only music, the best music, that everything made after that sucks.

Sounds pretty stupid doesn’t it? Well, that’s how you sound to young people today, music from your heyday is older than their parents. They’re going to have their own music, just as you did. They’re going to think your music sucks, just as you thought your parents’ music sucked.

Time moves on. Get over it, or retreat to riding around in your Trans Am with the t-tops out, 8 track blasting some old, shopworn Top 40, part your hair in the middle, grow it long. Dust off your Member’s Only jacket if you ever stopped wearing it.

There’s liking and appreciating the music of your youth, and there’s being ignorant about it, thinking that nothing else is worth liking because you don’t like anything you don’t know.

Indeed. Now THAT is Rock 'n' Roll. Good to see.

I've also taken a shine to Coheed and Cambria. A very serviceable Rush wannabe.

It's just the overseers and the house n***ers working with the plantation owners to bring in the strays and runaways...

How most African Americans cannot be frightened and disturbed by this action is stunning to me.

When my wife was a manager at Sears Optical Sears had a Kardashian fashion line. It was everything you’d imagine it to be. It was called the Kardashian Kollection.

I'd expand that to 1960 thru the mid 1980's.

I don’t know about that. Despite them being pretty gross, a lot of them are outspoken about being more right-leaning than not.
