Chauffeured around in a sleek black pick-up, the head of Venezuelas oil industry, Major General Manuel Quevedo, last month toured a joint venture with U.S. major Chevron.
Flanked by other trucks carrying security guards, Quevedo passed a handful of workers waiting by an oil well cluster. They wanted a word with the OPEC nations oil minister and president of its state-run oil firm, PDVSA [PDVSA.UL], about the sorry state of the company.

I think the declining Venezuela oil output is already priced in. I am more concerned that this country is going to totally collapse and create great regional instability and possible widespread bloodshed. I don’t think people realize how precarious this is getting.
Some PDVSA offices now have lines outside with dozens of workers waiting to quit. In at least one administrative office in Zulia state, human resources staff quit processing out the quitters, hanging a sign, we do not accept resignations, ...
Serfs up!
I dont think people realize how precarious this is getting.
My wife worked at a university in our small town, specifically in the foreign student department. They had a lot of Venezuelan students. They are being told by their families in Venezuela (when they can reach them) to stay here and DON’T go home. One of the kids’ family home was taken over by the military and when the gardener protested he was shot dead.
They need some good, old fashioned minutemen in that country right now.
Has Venezuela made it illegal to quit?
John Galt, white courtesy phone. Mr. Galt, please pick up the nearest white courtesy phone.
I live in Colombia part time...just returned to the U.S.. An estimated2.5 million Venezuelans have crossed over to Colombia and is causing havoc. Colombia has tried to help but the masses are just overwhelming. Venezuela’s oil industry is in total collapse.
Interesting. Thanks for that.
paging Sean Penn, paging San Penn, please proceed to a Venezuelan white courtesy telephone as soon as possible ...
“I am more concerned that this country is going to totally collapse and create great regional instability and possible widespread bloodshed. “
a real collapse is possible only with a military coup or military civil war: the general population is unarmed and starving ... unfortunately, Maduro will be fine as long as he can keep the military and their families housed and fed ...

I keep hearing that California is applying an EXIT FEE to businesses worth more than $6 million that try to move out of state. I cannot pin it down yet. Perhaps someone here on FR can do so.
IF I owned a business anywhere near that value and I wished to move out of Calif, I would think of a way to break up the company into pieces & have trusted family members or employees buy the parts.....Move...and restructure elsewhere later.
SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED.
Totally true what you posted, but... some outside government or entity at some point will likely arm a resistance movement to topple Maduro.
Funny, anyone heard from Sean Penn and the other Hollywood know-it-alls?
sean penn is in hiding from the drug kingpin that got nabbed when he visited him.
“toured a joint venture with US major Chevron.” Just what’s that supposed to mean?
That may be true, but not one person in Venezuela today filed for bankruptcy because they could not pay their medical bills.
LOL. Wolf, is that you? :)
No kidding. Wrap that diik in a giant hot dog bun and parachute him into downtown Caracas.
I read around 10% of Venezuelians have fled the country.

Trouble is they (unless they have some other currency) are so poor they cannot afford to go further than the other side of their border, let alone emigrate so worthless is Venezuelan currency.
read a story a few weeks ago about an oil worker who’s only food is a glass of corn meal mixed with water every morning.
Hasn’t seen a piece of meat “protein” in over a month.
Let’s send our genius democrats and millennials over there to show them how it’s done...let Sean Pennn etc to lead the charge.
Might be a good idea for our leftist prison inmates finishing out their terms to spend time there. Give them a stipend. Cheaper.
