Mears, as asian American I can answe you that question. The word miniority is political coded word referring only to blacks and Hispanics. The coded words are more deceiving and political and culturally convenient.
“Unless the definition of the word minority has changed Asians would qualify-and in 30 years Caucasians will qualify.”
At my last three employers, all defense contractors, Asians and Hispanics did not count. I asked the HR lady at the final place whether it mattered if we filled out the race part. Wide-eyed and innocent she said, I check every day to see if any blacks have applied so I can set them up for an interview. If it isn’t filled in we know the candidate is white. She said that in a dismissive tone. I was applying for the job I was performing as a contractor, but as the only open highly compensated position, they wanted to hire a black. There was a bonus clause in the contract if they qualified by hiring a black.
So, is there discrimination in hiring and promotions, yes. But it’s not what CNN says it is.
>>The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled universities may use affirmative action to help minority applicants get into college. Conservatives have said such programs can hurt white people and Asian-Americans.<<
Think about that. Even though Asian Americans are TINY % of the population (< 6%) they are not considered a minority since their cultures by and large emphasize hard work and education.
All ANY needs to know about the REAL agenda of the left. They are NOT for minorities.
Ronald Reagan, as Governor of California, was confronted by someone at a press conference who was worried that UC Berkeley would be flooded with Asian students if the UC Regents relied only on grades and test scores.
Reagan responded, “I don’t care if the whole student body became Asian, if they were in fact the most qualified students.”
“The word miniority is political coded word referring only to blacks and Hispanics. The coded words are more deceiving and political and culturally convenient.”
Exactly.
I remember when the Vietnamese were pouring into the country back in the late 70s-—they were treated well, but never got the benefits of being considered a minority.
The kids who didn’t even speak English when they arrived ended up being the top students in Boston, even at the Boston Latin School.
In other words,they WORKED HARD.
.
In the minds of the white Left-wing self-annointed saviors of black people, “minority” is a synonym for “inferiority,” meaning they consider blacks to be inferior and in need of their rescue services.
Oh, wait. "Minorities" are not required to submit SAT scores in their applications. Unless they think it will help.
Biased math and all that.
So, I guess the SAT score / non-minority discrimination ratio can't be accurately determined.
Doesnt matter, at least the US is finally taking on affirmative action.
The US should definitely join on the side of the asians, because:
1. It is the right and fair thing to do,
2. It will help bring the asians to our side when they vote
“So, is there discrimination in hiring and promotions, yes.”
And there was discrimination back in the 40s and 50s-—so the social justice crowd demanded change,by law,and the pendulum swung WAY back the other way,by-passing the middle, and nothing has changed but the color of the victims.
.
In order to be a minority, you have to be on food stamps, welfare, in a gang and never know who the male lineage is in your family.
Minority means blacks, Hispanics (with a Hispanic last name) and Indians, even fake ones like Warren.
They discriminate against Jews and Asians for the simple fact that Jews and Asians (for various reasons from IQ to culture) will take over a high performing school -— and they view that as a bad thing. So they have higher standards for those groups — and Jews still end up with 1/4 the slots despite the bigotry.
Black is always the ticket. With 80% of blacks having an IQ lower than the average white, a Harvard quality black is 1/100,000.
Can’t meet the quotas of 20% with those stats
Karma.
I first heard this at orientation on first day of grad school about 30 years ago.
There were, we were told, underrepresented and overrepresented minorities.
That was their excuse or reasoning.
Birds of a feather...
“underrepresented and overrepresented minorities.”
In other words, you had more smart people from one racial group than another racial group-——lordy,they love to play with words.
.
Harvard delenta est.
