A California court judges ruling ordering coffee companies to put cancer warning labels on their products is not changing the minds of scientists and health professionals who say there is no credible evidence to warrant the dramatic move.

Many studies tying a chemical, acrylamide which is formed when coffee beans are roasted to cancer were conducted using animals who were given quantities much larger than a human would consume, J. Leonard Lichtenfeld, the deputy chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society, told Fox News.
The substance is present in many of our foods, not just coffee, said Lichtenfeld, who has worked in oncology for decades. There was a minor scare about it being in French fries, and foods that are cooked in higher temperatures. Demonstrating a direct cause to cancer is very difficult. You always have to put a [suspected] risk into perspective.

Warning: California may cause insanity!
So, in California, you have to warn people about coffee ...but its cool to knowingly give someone HIV???
Sounds like California logic...
Torturing rats causes cancer.
Locking rats in a cage, smearing a chemical on their skin, and torturing them before killing them is very stressful to the rats, and they get cancer.
I want the “scientists” locked in a cage, tortured, and exposed to huge quantities of the same chemicals. Let them write books on the stress experienced.
I will not stop drinking coffee and the nazis can go to hell.
Coffee is not only safe, it is truly a miracle gift from God.
It is full of antioxidants, which, according to some studies, protect against cancer by neutralizing certain carcinogens.
Plus, it tastes delicious.
Torturing them before killing them? Are you quoting directly from PETA?
Warning: Living ALWAYS results in death.
This crap will never stop until someone has the courage and the resources to tell a Judge to stick it. In this case the company was asked to prove a negative. Just outrageous
But how is that different from everything else on the list of products the State of Kookifornia knows will cause cancer?
A coworker's wife worked in cancer research. She joked that with the doses they were testing the mice were more likely to suffer from sudden structural failure (i.e. they popped) than get cancer. At least I hope she was joking. I would hate to see two ounces of saccharine injected into a one ounce mouse.
Just picked up a Saeco Royal espresso machine at auction for $55. Took me a couple of days to figure out how to take it a part, thoroughly clean it and reassemble it. Works like a champ and makes great espresso. It’s the previous model, retailed.for around $1250
There is only one pivotal study of anti-oxidants and it showed no beneficial effect. Worse - the smokers in the study did worse than those on placebo.
The underlying premise that oxidants are "bad" is flawed. We need oxidants for various physiological reasons. If you want to see how important oxidants are try taking the most potent anti-oxidant: cyanide.
Caffeine is the miracle drug found in coffee and some teas - many beneficial effects.
A liberal nutbag judge does not California make, I have seen some pretty insane rulings by judges in other states too.
This as I consume my morning brew. My grandpa drank coffee until he passed at 90. Same with my dad who just passed at 83. Neither from cancer.
My dad could drink coffee any time, day or night. Baffles me.
Water causes cancer.....air causes cancer......breathing causes cancer. There’s only one solution for Californians seriously concerned about cancer - they should get a post birth abortion. It’s the only safe and healthy alternative that will guarantee they will not get cancer, ever.
The number one cause of death is
Birth.
It has a 100% mortality rate.
I was born, therefore I am doomed.
I’ll have a large cuppa joe, thanks.
