So far, Springer and his colleagues have published research demonstrating that just this one minute of exposure to secondhand smoke makes it harder for the rats' arteries to expand and allow a healthy flow of blood."
With tobacco products, this effect lasts about 30 minutes, and then the arteries recover their normal function. But if it happens over and over as when a person is smoking cigarette after cigarette, for example the arterial walls can become permanently damaged, and that damage can cause blood clots, heart attack or stroke.
Springer demonstrated that, at least in rats, the same physiological effect occurs after inhaling secondhand smoke from marijuana. And, the arteries take 90 minutes to recover compared to the 30 minutes with cigarette smoke.

The irony is that the nephew is a medical student.
Youre not going to get a lot of agreement here on FR. There are too many smokers who dont believe there is any danger from second hand smoke. BTW, I dont agree with the term second hand smoke . It should be unfiltered smoke or direct smoke since it comes from the end of the cigarette.
Let’s get modern here.
Are there any effects from second-hand vapor? Smoke is so gauche.
All the liberal a$$holes are pushing for the states to sell pot. Obviously they don’t care about the damaging effects on people.
Hypocritical bastards.
There is a publishing bias that makes it hard for relevant contrary information to get out. Same problem in transitioning medicine.
This old timer remembers walking down Commonwealth Ave. in Boston around 1970 and being overwhelmed by the marijuana smoke pouring out of the vents from B.U. housing.
I think this study is as phony as other second hand smoke studies.
I would think smoke from just about any burning material would be harmful and contain carcinogens. Wood, paper, plants, meat, plastic, oil, gas, etc. Too much smoke makes people choke and they want to get away from it. It is well known that firefighters often have health problems from inhaled smoke. Smoke from burning buildings contains carcinogens.
Why would MJ smoke be any different? Is it "magic" smoke?
Smoking is old, old news. Most people in legalized states are now vaping pure smokeless extracts tested in labs. No smoke, CO or smells of any kind. Puffs just like an ecig but no questionable solvents are needed. Many come in ecig cartridges.
Cannabis naturally can be converted to pure oil without needing the solvents like for tobacco. The most organic growers simply press the flowers against 2 hot plates and filter the fluid to extract pure oil. A process called “rosining”

How ‘bout just people whom believe Fedzilla has no authority in the matter instead?

Well, in this case, I wasn’t aware ‘special’ cigs were even FILTERED to start...
Back on topic:
How was this ‘study’ conducted? You can’t ‘smoke and drive’. ALL smokers are now relegated to the ‘smoking section’ (3 blocks down the road).
So where? The HOME? Don’t think it’s WORK.
What’s next fireplaces? Burn barrells? Controlled burns?
Hint: long exposure to ANYTHING will harm ya. But, you know, busy-bodies gotta busy.
No surprise to me at all about the dangers.
Yes and wheres the Mothers Against Drugged Driving? No such thing.
There is much more tar in marijuana smoke; after all, hashhish is essentially just pressed together tar. So naturally its going to stay in the lungs longer.
I had a friend in the 60s who smoked so much dope she couldnt even make it up a short flight of stairs in our high school without having to stop and gasp for air about half way up.
Not to mention what it did to her mind.
This has all the credibility of a NYTimes article about Christians. The experimenter is clearly less knowledgeable about how cannabis is used than is the average teenager.
> who smoked so much dope she couldnt even make it up a short flight of stairs in our high school without having to stop and gasp for air about half way up.
Physically impossible for that to happen to a healthy human being... person would fall asleep before being able to consume that much. Sounds like a chain cigarette smoker symptom.
Rats are interesting, but if second hand smoke were so dangerous, none of us who grew up in the 50s would have survived. My father chain-smoked in the car on long trips and all the time in our house. Almost all the adults at the bridge clubs where I played smoked. At Madison Square Garden you could hardly see the people at the opposite end of the ice near the end of a hockey game. But somehow we all survived and they were able to find statistical differences between smokers and non-smokers.

There also could be benefits. Take for example the Canadian snowboarder who, had it not been for second hand marijuana smoke, would have lost his Olympic medal. As usual, if you don’t believe me, Google it.
Wrong! Hash is compressed trichomes. Don’t be an idiot and post bullshyte when you don’t know what you are talking about. You look stupid, weren’t you called out in another thread about posting bullshyte?
Livious posted more unfounded bullshyte. FRFake news reporter.
It’s smoke, people. There’s no beneficial smoke for your lungs, mouth, throat, etc. This is not anti-cannabis. It’s about smoke of any kind.
