I am reminded of the time my brother left his pickup on the beach, then went off to who knows where and came back and found the tide had come in.

He calls me at 2am to come help him get his truck, 30 miles away.

We get there and all we can see is the bed of the truck bobbing up and down in the waves about 50 yards out............

Amazingly, the motor was ok. Had to get a wrecker to pull it out of the sand, because it sank up to the axles.
All he had to do was replace all the brakes and wash it out with fresh water......................

The woman was a dingbat but so was her husband, being unable to regain control of the vehicle. Unsnap belt, jump over the console and apply brakes. Couple of seconds at most.

The roof of the car is above water, the pool is only 4 ft deep so no risk of their drowning anyway, by the way.

Why don't you time yourself doing that in a dinky little car like they had?

I tried to get in the passenger side of a car and move to the driver position because someone had parked right next to me a few years ago. It took several minutes. I also knocked the rear view mirror off the windshield with my head during the contortions. It is not a trivial procedure in modern cars.
