I mostly agree with you on the CE requirements being excessive, but was only laying out my perception of the reason they started. Been doing it since 1985, and though my company (same one, same office) has kept us constantly updated on changes in the law and new technology, many of our competitors were clueless about it. I guess the same people who want to take my guns because someone else might abuse theirs are in charge of the real estate rules!
I don’t know if your from Texas but our legislature is as corrupt as legislatures get. And, that’s a bad thing.
Their attitude is “well, lets weed a few of these morons out”. And, that attitude transfers to the conference rooms where all the bureaucrats on salaries sit around all day every day for months on end conjuring up these rules.
Take a look at how many Real Estate Schools there are. Imagine how many lobbyists they have in Austin.
