The upscale suburb of Parkland, Fla. has been in the news for a month and rightfully so. The lunatic Nick Cruz killed 17 innocent people.
Even with the liberalism of Broward County, Fla. revealed in the incompetent leadership of the sheriffs and the extreme liberalism of the gun control activists, like David Hogg, Parkland looked like a nice place to live, regardless of the politics of the area. Would you ever live in a suburb like Parkland, or is the suburb too liberal for you?
How would you know how dysfunctional and corrupt the government was before you moved there?
Mild to moderately liberal places which are also well-off can be OK spots to live, if they don’t get too thoroughly crazy.
Probably couldn’t afford a house there.
Niche.com tells you ratings about towns.
Cool reference.
My zipcode got an A, although it’s rather liberal. Did you check out Parkland?
Parkland got an A also, FWIW. I just checked.
Nope.
I’ve gotten to the point that I hate even going into the nearby (15 miles away) town of ~500 people to buy groceries.
And they are all (mostly, anyway) ‘down to earth’, conservative / libertarian types.
I’m thinking now of a nice southern suburb close to home here in Texas. It probably has more military retirees than other residents. It’s quite. It’s conservative.
It’s corrupt to the core.
How and why the city elects clowns to the city council year after year is a mystery.
Plenty of nicer conservative areas on the west coast of Florida around Naples and Port Charlotte.
I lived in one for 40 years-——and loved it.
VERY liberal but a fantastic place to live.

That's sort of something we already knew, isn't it? People who like to live where rich people live give places where rich people live high ratings.
The more unrich people who live in a place the lower the ratings are.
Yes. It says that Parkland is nice, peaceful suburb but has some snobby people.

Our 25 year location got an A+ in all categories from Niche.com. All well and good, but we left that area and moved to the country 3 years ago. Don’t miss it at all. Instead of BMWs, Benz’s, Escalades, Audis, Prius’s and other crap clogging up the parking lots, now we park along side other pick-up trucks and all my neighbors love guns, four wheelers, BBQ cooking, horses, cattle and Country. Much nicer group of people. IF there are any Liberals nearby, we sure as hell aren’t aware of their presence. Those people keep a very low and quiet profile.
True.
Parkland is a upper-middle class suburb.
I’ve lived nearby Parkland (in Coconut Creek) for sometime... its just like any other affluent neighborhood... Not sure what you visualize what a “liberal” area looks like... its not like there is a DNC official on every block checking for Trump stickers so they can ticket you.
So, my point is, how would somebody thinking about moving there know that the County Sheriff was a complete political animal, self-serving and corrupt to boot? And that the schools had been turned into criminal incubators so that the Department of Education could get big grants and share them with the Sheriff’s Department?
It’s hard to tell, unless you’re there for a while.
Obviously, I wouldn’t want to move there now that the info is out.
Broward County?
No way in hell!
Living among suburban Progressives is fun because they are all hypocrites. They want to save the planet but drive the bigger gas guzzlers than me. They hate guns, but own them. They love diversity, until a crime is committed in the neighborhood and then the low-key buzzing starts about the minority teenagers. On Sunday, they go off to worship God but are in favor of killing babies.
I love the block parties where someone actually explains that you’re the “neighborhood conservative, so be careful what you say around him”. Then, prove that you know more about Progressivism and its history than they do when they try to browbeat you with one of their shallow talking points.
Now, the caveat is: don’t send your kids to their schools! Ever!
South Florida isn’t a “Southern City” or “Southern Suburb.
The further south you go in Florida, the further NORTH you get.
Northern Florida is much more civilized.
I definitely prefer City-Data.com
It’s older and clunky, but it give the actual demographics and includes voting results.
With Niche, A+ means less whites. C+ means too many whites!
LOL!
