Thanks!
Technologies change, the millenials can be pilloried for lots of other things, but for not knowing an old technology that they don't use? nah.
I prefer a manual transmission but I'm 40 and yet I know that many automatics today are getting better and better.
Most people couldn’t survive if tomorrow all electricity was gone along with gunpowder. Very, very few. Ever since we invented agriculture, human beings jettison older technologies or some move to other things.
It takes a Video over two minutes long to show someone how to change a lightbulb?
[Most people couldnt survive if tomorrow all electricity was gone]
Probably not. I have a grill but I want to get a gas -powered one for short-term (like a week or two).
Obviously it’s only a short-term cooking solution.
I learned to drive a stick when shopping for my first pick-up truck. The salesman was so eager to sell me a gas-guzzler back in the early 80’s when gas was still high.
I get in for the test drive - “Oh - it’s a stick!? I don’t know how to drive these.”
“Oh - it’s easy - you’ll be fine!”
It really was pretty easy after the first three tries getting going. And I did like the truck. I shopped around for another one though - I figured the funny smell wasn’t doing something too much good!
Nor could they change a flat tire.
Try to get them to give you change at a fast-food joint.
Let’s say your $1 sandwich comes to $1.08 with tax.
Give them $1.33 and watch the gears grind to a halt.
Sad. Keep in mind this is the generation that would most likely be caring for you in a nursing home. But the truth is employers know most of these millennials couldn’t grab their own ass with both hands. That’s why they hire illegals.
When i was 22 i changed both the clutch, steering rack, exhaust and brake pads and rotors on my 1987 Toyota Supra all at one time with no youtube to show me how.
I’d guess that maybe 1% of all 22 yr olds have that ability nowadays.
It seems that the ONLY things they are capable of is using their cell phones, Playstations and complaining a lot.
I thought the clutch was tough but that steering rack...
Shoulda paid someone to do that..
True, but if gas supplies also end (which could happen after a couple of weeks at the most with no electricity).
Millenials just can’t get over the concept that some bulbs are brighter than others- life can be so unfair!
This is misleading. It’s not that they CAN’T change a light bulb, it’s that they REFUSE to change a light bulb.
That’s even worse.
Once I stopped in a WalMart to pick up a few things, including a small can of paint (brush, not spray) for a project I was doing.
As I was checking out, the millennial scanner girl scanned the paint, and apparently something came up on the screen about verifying the age of the buyer.
She had a baffled look on her face as she looked at the can and said “what is this?”
She had never seen a can of paint in her deprived young life.
Two...one to climb up and hold it and the other to turn the ladder.
“This is misleading. Its not that they CANT change a light bulb, its that they REFUSE to change a light bulb.”
They should stick there asses in the army except only about 30% are even fit for military service.
“According to a poll, 6 out of 10 millennials can’t change a light bulb:”
Thats pretty close to the ratio of democrats to normal people.
LOL! Good luck refusing anything the drill sergeant tells you to do!
My retirement hobby is restoring Old Arn. When I am in my shop, working on a jointer, or drill press or whatever, I relish the joy of working constructively with my hands and my brain, and marvel that at the age of nearly 71, each day I learn something new.
Something most millennials will probably never experience...unless there is an app for it.
