This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.

Hubby has started some of his seeds. Still don't have the new garden bed finished. Needing to transplant turmeric roots, but am afraid to put them outdoors yet.
Lemon tree is doing it's usual drop leaves and act like it's dying for this time of the year. It usually pulls out when summer gets here and I put it outdoors.

Going with onion bulbs this year, too. Got the 100 bulbs of various onion types for $3 at WM - hey it was there, so.....first time I’m trying bulbs. I figured I can get 8-13 in each designated pot (a little closer than prescribed).
Got my eggshells outside - waiting to crush them into soil (yet to be purchased).
My farm-to-table will require a walk of about 8-10 feet - like most years. Well, except for the patch down low. That will be a trip of 15-20 feet.
Too much of the white stuff to be doing any gardening here in Minnesota.

That’s why I like living closer to the mason Dixon line. LOL
my first fail report of the season...I ordered some flower bulbs from Michigan seed and their confirmation email said it could arrive anywhere from 3/12 to 6/12....no kidding...
I would much prefer to be shoveling soil than Snow.
But there ya go.
Yes, I can relate. I ordered some potatoes and other stuff from them. Our plant date for potatoes is 4/1 -4/15. So on April 1 I called since there had been plenty of time.
They weren’t even planning on shipping them till sometime in May. Took lots of griping and several calls to get them sooner than that.
Will never use them again.
So the last two weeks of Feb were beautiful and I figured I’d get an early start on the peas and get them in the ground ASAP.
And just like last year, I started the seeds and within a couple days, the weather changed and we’ve been getting bombed with snow since then.
Got a nor’eater and now lake effect and the temps tanked to jan levels.
We’re not supposed to see the sun or temps above 40 for another week yet.
GRRRRR....... It’s so frustrating....
But I did get up to a friend’s farm and got a start on manuring the small section of garden and mixing it in well. Soon as the snow melts and we see the ground again, they peas are going in.
The rest of it will have to wait.
Have started my Tomato plant seeds in the Jiffy Greehouse. Planted with a couple rows of parsley in between.
I planted my tomato seedlings outside. Hoping that it will harden them for the upcoming heat. It’s my first time with tomatoes in the ground
Somebody planted walking onions here before be bought the property.
They’re all over the place...
I’m in upstate NY near Lake Ontario...and we have snow and cold. Starting plants indoors is pretty much the norm. Some of the bigger farmers have Greenhouses and some are getting into hydroponics.
We sometimes have snow up until April 15. So I always keep some row cover handy. Another nice thing is that we have an outdoor electric receptacle, and I have a stash of 100 watt incandescent bulbs.
So I can rig a shop light under the cover and get through a few bad nights that way, but It’s a lot of trouble, so I don’t usually do it.
If we were trying to depend 100% on what we grow, I put in the effort and do much more than that. LOL
That’s what I’m afraid of. But I always let Hubby do what he wants with his garden.
Hi all.
It’s been not too bad lately, the evil white stuff is all gone, the windstorms have abated, and several croci, daffs and violets have popped their pretty little heads out. A few poppies have also broached the soil surface and are growing slowly.
All the fruit trees are now showing signs of budding, the rhubarb is starting to leaf out, it’s lovely!
I accidentally dropped a rock on the peony when mowing the lawn on Monday, I’m hoping I didn’t hurt it too badly. Grass looks so much better when it’s freshly cut.
The garden room needs one electrical wire replaced, as I somehow managed to short the ground and neutral wires to one measly outlet with a drywall screw. D’oh! At least I don’t have to go through a new, freshly painted wall to replace it.
Getting some seedlings started (toms, lettuce, radishes, peas and beans) this weekend is the plan. After the silliness mitigation, that is. < BG >
Nothing else I can think of, other than I have to make some hamburger soup, for me and the 18 y/o dog. I’ve had a hankering, and he’s been off his feed for the last few weeks.

Heck, Mother’s Day is about the last day we see snow around here.
It’s happened too often recently.
I sure am glad we don’t have to survive on what we grow.
Sacajaweau, how much snow did you get today? The forecast and radar looks like you got pounded.
We even got a fair amount of lake effect here south of Syracuse.
I’m in Phoenix where the summers get to be 115 in the summer. We can have tomatoes until June but not beyond. I’ve heard you can plant in the fall as well but it’s hard to figure out when that is. It’s a moving target here.
I usually plant flowers but thought I might venture into veggies now that I’m retired
