NBC's $12billion deal to cover the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang may not see the profits the network hopes for, as the games are rated the worst ever in NBC viewership history. This year's Winter Games in South Korea saw the number of views decline by 24 per cent compared to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, within the 18 to 49 years demographic. The slump in views may have burned a hole in NBC's wallet after the network invested $12billion to cover the cream-of-the-crop competition, but had to offer free ad time to advertisers when it failed to reach the promised number of viewers.

Schadenfreude. NBC better lower those ad rates for 2020 in Tokyo and 2022 in China.

I didn’t watch, but I heard there was some gay people and Trump haters out there who were busier bashing the president than competing in sports.

Sounds like The Curse of the Descending Colon Krapperdick has transcended the nflol and is now infecting the homolympics.
And nbc is stuck with both of these flailing institutions.

I dunno, maybe once viewers saw it wasn't the Olympics but the sodomy Olympics, maybe that had something to do with it?

The “gay” games flopped.
Terrible coverage and full court press of homosexuals normalcy propaganda combined for a terrible outcome in the ratings department.

NBC and SJWs. Bad recipe. My v-chip blocked it all.

Call me crazy but from what I am seeing, the "taking a knee" thing has a lot to do with this.
When people said "radio sucks, there are too many commercials," despite radio's strengths national audience share eventually took a non-stop nose-dive and Spotify etc. stepped right in to replace a whole host of stations. Same with TV and Netflix, which has robbed a whole host of TV stations of share.
Similarly, when When people started to self-identify as 'not caring about sports (or football) because of professional athletes' ass-hat attitudes,' a lot of other distractions - some on smart-phones, some not - stepped right in as they are designed to do.
I posit that, like heartbroken lovers, we can deal with doping or a drug scandal here or there, but in the end our hearts (our patriotic hearts, Republican and sad, misled Democrat alike, maybe) just can't stand the prospect of the sort of pain that comes with finding out our athletic "heroes" are often grand-standing, deeply indoctrinated selfish, ungrateful traitor lefties (but I repeat myself.)

All we watched was the live streams. Very pleasant not to listen to the on air personalities and watch all those silly backgrounder’s.

The Olympics are a disaster for the local economy; was reading the other day that the P-chang area had predicted all sorts of wonderful benefits arising from the games - instead, they are stuck with enormous debts and what will now be unusued or under-used facilities. You know the Winter Olympics is a dog when you saw that the city of Lillehamer in Norway, which hosted them in 1994 and has all the needed facilities pre-built, voted down even applying to host them this time.

They better figure out that the audience doesn’t care to hear from all the fruit baskets competing about their preferred lube and Xanax pre-sodomy warm-up. They can go be flamboyant someplace other than my TV.

Some people say oh, the knee thing isn't that big of a deal, of corse, but recall afro-panther made MAN OF THE YEAR, which was significant. It was significant not because Time is a serious or important magazine anymore, but because it underlined the differences between two Americas.
What I believe, personally, is that there are scores of Americans who pretend to go along with this left wing commie BS in our schools, our offices, our barracks, and even our homes... But deep inside, it makes us sick.
I don't drink Southern Comfort. I don't even like to look at the bottle. We Americans are creatures who go by our gut. We are visceral creatures. And we tend, ultimately, to stay away from things that make us sick.

We do not give NBC ratings! And still hoping their $20M to Me-again is also a complete disaster as well!

I thought the last time anybody did well hosting an Olympics was Los Angeles in 1984. It seems like any other set of games just features stories about disappointment and useless construction that has no value once the games are over.
Maybe it's time for politicians to recognize out loud that trying to host these "Games" is an expensive ego trip.
