Former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin has been detained for questioning in Los Angeles as a result of a threatening image posted on social media, according to reports.

"The individual we believe responsible for the social media post in question has been detained and our investigation is ongoing," the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.

ABC News confirmed that Martin was the man detained by police.

Harvard-Westlake is ranked the most elite private school in Los Angeles county.

To me the arrest is more scary than the social media post. Does not sound like a threat.

Are we now going to shut down school every time someone makes a perceived threat?

How about guarding our schools as well as we currently guard our politicians, banks, etc.

Re: “Incognito has always been known as a jerk and dirty player.”

A jerk?

I disagree.

Incognito was voted as team co-captain by his teammates the same year the Martin scandal went down.

The money quote from every Miami player who spoke publicly was:

“I thought Martin and Incognito were good friends.”

Incognito was coarse and a trash talker, but life long Dolphin fans like me loved him because of his intensity and his competitiveness and his toughness.

He was like Zach Thomas, except for lots of four letter words and bawdy sex talk.

I forgot to mention...

Jonathan Martin’s mother is/was a lawyer in a firm that specialized in racial discrimination lawsuits.

As I recall, her firm handled all of Martin’s out of court settlements against the Dolphins and the NFL.

I don't know how much of a Dolphins fan you can be. Zach Tomas was a linebacker, Richie Incognito is an Guard! They don't even play on the same side if the ball!

Incognito played more years before the Dolphin, than he played with them. He was voted dirtiest player in the NFL in 2009, by actual NFL players. He seems to have cleaned that up in recent years.

He got cut from the Rams, because he was creating huge problems for them. He got cut after he got two huge penalties for them by headbutting Titans players, then he got into a fight with the head coach on the sideline. He was benched before that for losing his temper in a game. He had an incident with the precious coach after taunting Rams fans after the team lost. Haslett also couldn't control him fighting and getting damaging penalties. During his time with the Rams, he had more unnecessary roughness penalties than any player in the NFL, during the span.

He had problems constantly getting in fight during games at Nebraska, and then arrested for assault. He finally got kicked of Nebraska, not an easy thing to do. Then he got a second chance with Oregon, but they kicked him off the team before he played a single game.

So, I hope Incognito matured, but you have to be willfully blind not to realize he earned a bad reputation, and deservedly so.

Which is exactly what you need in an offensive lineman.

No, it's not. Sorry, I played offensive line. The best offensive linemen are the most disciplined. You don't need one who is a slave to anger, and you don't need the game-killing penalties.

Disagree, you need mean nasty OL, not a bunch of nice guys.
Ones who can avoid penalties, but who also can keep the more athletic DL and LB’s from blowing up the offense, and can open big holes for the RBs.

Did you even read my Comment?

Zach Thomas and Richie Incognito were two of the best liked players in Dolphin history, by teammates and by fans.

Thanks for the Wikipedia summary of Incognito’s earlier career.

You forgot to mention that south Florida football journalists liked Incognito almost as much as Dolphin players and fans did.

The Pro Football Writers Association in Miami gave Incognito its “Good Guy Award,” which is typically given to the player who is always available to the press and always has interesting or humorous quotes.
