He Became A Celebrity For Putting Science Before God. Now Lawrence Krauss Faces Allegations [tr]

When Melody Hensley first met Lawrence Krauss, she was a 29-year-old makeup artist at a department store, and he was one of her intellectual idols. She ran an atheist website in her spare time and had just started volunteering for the Center for Inquiry (CFI), a nonprofit group committed to promoting science and reason above faith. She was hoping to build a career in the burgeoning “skeptics” movement, and Krauss was one of its brightest luminaries.

At a CFI event in November 2006, Krauss asked Hensley for her card, and later, as she was leaving, asked her if she was “of age.” She brushed off the odd question, excited to meet a star skeptic. When he later emailed to invite her to dinner, she accepted.

‘Cue Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust”.

more ‘he said/she said’ crapola; she’s a big girl, he’s a tiny old man; deal with it...

on another note, I saw Krauss debating William Lane Craig on YouTube; not too many people best the slick Craig in a debate, but Krauss managed it, if not artfully, then at least substantially...

Delicious irony. To the formerly fawning female: I’m skeptical of your allegations.

Is it me? What am I missing? She had a boyfriend, and went back to this guys room with him...alone, and is offended and surprised that the guy was going to come on to her?

Good gosh, and she was nearly 30 years old!!!!! I could see some stupid 18 year old girl doing this, but...a 30 year old woman?

The guy is a scum, and anyone could see that with his atheism/faith angle he was working, and yes, what he did was wrong.

But why does she not share some blame for putting herself squarely in this position? Is THIS what they teach girls today, that it is okay to go up to some older guy’s room with him, and that no advances are going to be made?

Yep...a Perfesser...when you don’t have God to guide you, you are apparently authorized to make up your own morality with regards to the opposite sex.

He’s an amazingly disingenuous man. I have no opinion on this episode except noting he was (probably) married at the time, which makes him a scumbag.

Besides being anti-God, Krauss is a Goebels warming alarmist and an anti-Trumper, in short, he has blown all the basic BS detectors.
Largely enough to know he is a fraud.

I only know him from debates with William Craig over the existence of God. Krauss seemed to be just another scientism sophist who sees himself as too smart to think critically about philosophy because after all he is a scientist and thus doesn't need critical thought because he automatically is its embodiment etc. Guy makes a fool of himself, and its so sad to watch.

anti-God = pro-Satan. There is no 3rd choice.

Yes. Any public figure who tells young women, "Don't do stupid stuff! It may turn out badly for you!" is metaphorically eviscerated.

People give me heat when I mention that this notion that women can go anywhere and do anything they want at anytime just like men do (often stupidly) is dangerous to women.

I don’t say it because I disrespect women or don’t think they are capable, but because men are almost always going to be able to outmuscle a woman, especially if they assault her by surprise. It is a simple fact of life.

And there are many people who think taking a self defense course like the kind they give at a community college is going to help them...and it is possible, it might. Conceal carry would be even better, but either way, why put yourself in that position as a woman?

I think that having to choose to avoid dangerous situations would threaten some deeply-held belief. As you observe, men also do stupid things with a high probability of a bad outcome. However, since they are usually (a) stronger than women and (b) not sexually targeted by men, the bad outcome of sexual assault is far less common.

Exactly. Men go for walks in places they shouldn’t, but are more likely to get away with it, especially if they look like they might not be easy prey.

Even a very fit woman will appear to even an “intelligent” violent criminal as prey.

In most situations, a very fit woman is not visibly different, at any distance, from a woman who is weak or ill. And even then, it doesn’t matter much. I’m in much better shape than my 21-year-old son, but he’s a foot taller and 140 lbs. heavier than I am. If he wanted to attack me, I’d be toast, unless I had a headstart and a lot of room to run.

Thanks C19fan. And what will happen? Probably nothing. He's managed to skate by with blanket denial, or in the Australian incident it appears he was given the option to resign just to avoid all the litigation and stain on the institution. Ultimately these media leftists won't care either.
When asked why multiple women, over more than a decade, have separately accused him of misconduct, he said the answer was "obvious": It's because his provocative ideas have made him famous. "It is common knowledge that celebrity attracts all forms of negative attention from many different angles," Krauss said in a December email. "There is no pattern of discontent revealed here that suggests any other explanation." ...Last year, at a Q&A event to promote his latest book, the conversation came around to the dearth of women and minorities in science. "Science itself overcomes misogyny and prejudice and bias," Krauss said. "It's built in." ...Krauss says his movement is getting more diverse, not less. He is politically liberal, decrying sexism, racism, and "the fear of people who are different," and is a vocal critic of Donald Trump. And yet, he's not always politically correct, whether saying that religion drives xenophobia, dismissing burka-clad Muslims as "women in bags," announcing that a statue looks like "Jesus on the toilet," or tweeting articles arguing that #MeToo has gone too far... Krauss disputed Perimeter's statement. "As I have been invited back numerous times by colleagues there in the interim, empirical evidence suggests otherwise," Krauss said by email. "If there had been any such formal complaint and investigation and decision, I would have heard about it, or been asked to participate in it."
