MOBILE, Ala (WKRG) - Wednesday evening the community came together to honor fallen MPD Officer Justin Billa.

A procession was held Wednesday night.

Hundreds of people lined the streets as Officer Billa's body was escorted from USA Medical Center to Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Mike McClinton was one of those people and he says he lost his brother who was once a Mobile Police Officer. "My brother, Corporal Owen McClinton was killed Friday, December 13th in 1996 by a hit and run driver."

McClinton says that's why it's important for him to show his support, "My heart goes out to the family, and all the officers, because I know it hurts. I still carry the pain from my brother's death today."

Many people we spoke to say they are also hurting, and will continue to show their support for the city and Mobile Police. Including Tommy Travis, "Something like this hits home. It sorta makes you pause man because I think you can see it tonight, by the out turning and gathering, that we support our community, we support our law enforcement, our thoughts and prayers are with him."

Many people News 5 spoke with commented on how much hope it brought them to see the number of people showing their support.

There are several videos at the source showing the procession of the slain police officer being transported to the funeral home. This is how deplorables treat law enforcement. On one of the videos you can see people pulling over on the opposite side of the interstate apparently in honor of the officer.
