Black Panther is for film what Barack Obama was for the presidency
CNN ^ | February 9, 2018 | Issac Bailey

For a few hours starting next weekend, black America will exhale, something it has not done since the Republican Party chose as its presidential nominee a man who rose to national political prominence on open bigotry and 58% of white voters made him President. For a few hours, it will be a veritable black American holiday, a kind of revival in the middle of Black History Month and the second year of the Donald Trump era.

“For a few hours starting next weekend, black America....”

Hold it right there, bucky. So CNN approves of a segregated America? I thought that kind of thing went out decades ago. Oh, well.

CNN is a wasteland of narrative, it’s not news. The only way this gets cleaned up is to block the channel on your TV’s. Hasn’t been on mine in years. (Along with MSNBC) These creeps are funded by ad revenue to spew hate and immature commentary to those too stupid or lazy to search for truth. Cut the cord.

They have a disclaimer saying that the author’s views are his own (not nec. the same as those of CNN).

Before white people got there, there was not a multi-story structure in all of sub-Saharan Africa.

Left to their own, they also never excavated minerals, built bridges and they had not domesticated animals.

But just wait..!

They are going to go ahead and internalize all this Hocus Pocus in the movie about gleaming cities, lasers and flying cars, etc.

just wait.

I wanted to read the article to see and understand a different perspective.

I can only swallow so much pablum and BS.

Made it about halfway though...

“Black Panther is for film what Barack Obama was for the presidency”

Is it really that bad?

Black Panther will be fawned-over by critics, an excuse for more attacks on Whites, and a box office disaster.

Any group of idiots that can go and believe that Trayvon Martin and the Gentle Giant were pictures of propriety instead of complete thugs IS crazy enough to feel anger and betrayal at “Whites taking away their gold and jewels and easy lives of luxury as Kangz in mythical Africa” as depicted in this silly movie.

Just like children, they’re going to be really, really angry about all this stuff that never happened but that they saw flickering on a Hollywood screen.

And they’re going to want “their stuff” back, just wait.

Does Black Panther promise us if we like our doctor we can keep him?

Does he spy on rivals for the throne of Wakanda?

I’m pretty sure it’s better than that. If I didn’t find the character rather monotonous I’d go see it, but as an old comic nerd I have certain pre-dispositions. Still haven’t seen either Guardian movie either, hated that book.

Black Panther is a comic book creation by Marvel from decades ago. It showed a man rising up to be a king and protector of the innocent......regardless of color.

Race rarely entered into the Black Panther character. He was an honored member of the Avengers and even held the chairmanship of the superhero team.

Black Panther was not a token black man in the way the liberal left is trying to portray this movie.

I am excited to see the movie and to be a part of Marvel’s march toward Infinity War.

Actually when Portuguese explorers arrived in sub-Saharan Africa, there were numerous cities all built of wood; there was fresh water piped into homes as well as a sewer system - the pipes were made out of wood. The Portuguese Empire was the crown of European Civilization at the time. The explorers sent word back to the Crown asking permission to remain as the living conditions were so much better in those cities (running water in home and sewers were unknown in all of Europe then).

However, with the introduction of the trade of firearms to local mussulman slavers the cities were raided and destroyed. The jungle destroyed what remained.

People need to remember that prior to the mussulman conquest in the 7th and 8th centuries northern and costal African civilizations were well developed and ahead of anything in Europe at the time. After the conquest, nothing remained and people were reduced to savagery and squalor, the condition they remained in when the slave trade expanded to the Americas.

I hear that for Wakanda is actually pretty smart:

They put Wakandans first, they have little to do with their neighbors and they don’t needlessly fight the long, expensive wars of other kingdoms secretly hostile to and contemptuous of them.
