That's great except for one thing - the Constitution says otherwise.

The Constitution has provided for federal courts to try citizens and lower government officials for charges of federal crimes (Art. III, Sec. 2, Cl. 1). And the Constitution clearly states that for high government officials, ONLY the House can impeach (formally accuse) and ONLY the Senate can convict and remove a government official (Art. I, Sec. 2, Cl. 5; Art. I, Sec. 3, Cl. 6-7). This includes accusation and conviction of treason, and congressional authority to punish treason (Art. II Sec. 4; Art. III; Sec. 3).
