Sportsbooks get crushed on Super Bowl betting thanks to Eagles upset
Larry Brown Sports ^ | February 4, 2018 | Larry Brown

The outcome of the Super Bowl was a nightmare not just for the New England Patriots and their fans, but also for most sportsbooks. There was so much money bet on the Philadelphia Eagles either via the point spread or the moneyline that most books were hoping for a Patriots win. Of note, there were several huge seven-figure bets placed on the Eagles that gamblers were able to cash on. William Hill sportsbook took a lost of over $4.6 million on three massive bets on the Eagles alone. 54 percent of their bettors were on the Eagles side of the spread, and 75 percent of moneyline bettors were on the Eagles and received favorable odds.

LV took a massive hit on seven figure money line bets for the Eagles. I wonder how these books end up taking a position? I thought they would adjust the odds to get to a 50/50 position.

I am not sure what position LV had the over was a big winner, and the prop bets on passing yards was a big win for the overs for both QBs.

Not to sound mean, but I love it when the House loses & loses Big!

No super bowl in my house. Screw em. I hope the network and the NFL took a major hit too.

I watched the Godfather Part 2 instead. I drive by the stadium every day and I was getting very annoyed with all the visitors in town screwing up traffic and everything else for a sportsball match. Glad it is over.

Watched it last week. Great movie. Though the DiNero part outshone the Pachino part IMHO.

The bookies always make money. No sports book took a hit. To say so means one doesn’t understand how sport books work.

Same here, those America-haters can SHOVE IT. Bummer that these articles keep cycling through here, though.

Never a huge fan. Playoffs and super bowl pretty much only. But I always watched those. They lost me with a bad case of knee-monia. The league had a chance to fire Goodell a few weeks ago. Instead they rewarded him with millions and a private jet.

Let the league die. A new better league will take its place

Yep, same here. I did enjoy watching some games, and the Super Bowl, but not a big fan for the past few decades.

...but now that’s even gone.

Note my virtue as well! I took my wife out to a nice Birthday dinner and shopping instead of that anti-American waste of time!

The 4 massive bets were probably placed before the adjustment was made...

This is a crock of Sh1tt !! Anybody who tells you you can go to Vegas and bet any amount you want to bet is full of it. I’m sure they lost money but the millions they claim, I seriously doubt it. This is nothing more than Vegas tooting it’s horn. Don’t believe me, just go out to any Vegas Casino and tell them you want to bet a million dollars on any sporting event and they will politely tell you no way.
