Poll: 16% of NFL fans say they won't watch the Super Bowl

Super Bowl 52 is just a few days away, and after NFL regular season TV ratings fell by nearly 10% this season on average, one of the biggest questions pundits and sports media have is: Will the Super Bowl ratings be good?

If the results of a new survey from Seton Hall University are to be believed, the answer might be no.

Seton Hall surveyed 706 Americans across the country, via landlines and cellphones, from Jan. 29 to Jan. 31. The first question asked people how closely they follow the NFL. Of those who said they follow it “very closely,” a group the survey identifies as NFL fans, 16% said they won’t watch this year’s Super Bowl. The poll has a 3.8% margin of error.

#BoycottNFL! 16% is in the ballpark of the decline in NFL ratings over the past seasons. I am among the 16%.

I am no longer an NFL fan. Do they count me?

I think 16% is way too low. It will be a much higher number. I hope the Stupid Bowl fails miserably as far as viewership is concerned.

America needs a new league. The time is right.

What’s Super Bowl?

It is a toilet that uses more than 1.6 liters per flush.

It’s a sportsball match. It is happening a mile or so from the hospital my son is in. Everyone here is annoyed because it is really screwing up the parking. I sit up in the cafeteria and watch the military helicopters hovering around.

Security is massive. The only event in the country that is more secure is the presidential inauguration.

Aside from all the other problems the NFL is having, the Superbowl would be more fun Worldwide and especially nationwide, if the Big Game was held on Saturday night or early Sunday afternoon. Most people that stay up for the end and almost all businesses suffer the following Monday, making it a very unproductive day. Those that drink Sunday night, are hungover at work on Monday... Anyone who attends the game, has to travel back on a day they have to take time for. Sunday night Superbowls basically suck.

Done with the NFL. No superbowl for me. The only kneeling for me is prayer that our president can stay the course.

Oh ok. I use to have those and had no problem flushing away my turd with one flush. I wonder that’s what the problem is in DC. Not all turds go down with one flush.

I so PRAY that they have a 20+% drop-off in viewership!

I’m sure that the NFL and Goodell would still refuse to admit the true cause, but it will be a HUGE financial loss, because the advertisers will start looking for a better way to spend their money, than on the Super Bowl!!

Please!!!!

The Super Bowl was passé once they got to the point where the halftime show and the TV ads got as much coverage as the game itself.

I have seen every Super Bowl since Miami went undefeated by beating the Redskins at the end of the 1972 season. (I was rooting for the Redskins).

But I will not see it this year. I am done with the NFL.
