Yes, I do believe there was a crater and there were attempts to keep it from being published. That photo you just posted doesn’t show it because it is filled in from debris from the building.
Was barrel full of deadly Ah-Jino-Moto set to go off at end of meal.
If you examine this photo, you will see the blue tarp covering the crater.

I'm guessing that the guy overcharged his cell phone batteries. Probably why he had to wrap it in duct tape, because it got too hot.
You are correct, thanks for pointing that out. I did more digging and found that the explosion left an 8’ crater. Nothing to the extent of the NK type but car bombs do leave a big dent. Most of the craters I have seen have been from projectiles or mines but IED’s that are not buried tend to not dig in.
Other than with speculative theories which are not supported by the majority of the engineering community (see Partin Report), it has been widely accepted that the trigger to the collapse of the Murrah Federal Building was the detonation of a homemade bomb contained in a rental truck which was parked in front of the nine-story office building on N.W. Fifth Street. The resulting crater from the blast was approximately 28 feet in diameter and 7 feet deep. This crater was measured to be only about 10 feet away from Column G20 of the Murrah Building. After conducting analysis, the BPAT found that the required energy which would result in a crater of equal magnitude would be equivalent to that of the detonation of approximately 4,000 lbs of trinitrotoluene (TNT) (Mlakar, 1998, p. 113). After additional investigation, it was determined that the rental truck had been loaded with an estimated 4,800 lbs of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil explosive, also known as ANFO (Delatte, 2009, p.157). The detonation of bomb of this magnitude produces a radially propagating air-blast wave. The BPAT calculated that resulting pressures on the nine-story portion of the Murrah Building due to this air-blast wave were a maximum of 10,000 psi at the area closest to the detonation and a minimum of 9 psi at the upper west corner of the structure
But we’re supposed to believe that a cellphone with duct tape survived the explosion somewhat intact. Hmmm, not quite buying that...
Sorry, that explanation doesnt fly
It must be tough to be an Israeli Mossad agent (or CIA) agent. The media, popular entertainment, books and other media track only the Mossad and CIA. Nobody tracks or glorifies or even reports on the massive world wide Russian KGB, Chinese MMS, Turkish NIO, British MI6 and so many other spy agencies at work, spying and carrying out sabotage.
The Israelis are always tracked. Despite that they pull of some crazy stuff.
What this article does not link into is the assumed fact that the train was carrying NORK, Syrian and other NUCLEAR experts. Following the explosion, body bags were brought back from North Korea to Syria and the crews that handled the bodies were dressed in NBC MAZHAT suits.
The NORKS built a Syrian nuclear weapons processing plant that was eventually destroyed by Isarel in 2007. THAT is probably the true story behind the massive train explosion and not just an assassination attempt on the NORK leader.
The Israeli raid killed NORK Engineers INSIDE the Syrian plant in 2007. The NORKS built an exact replica of their own Plutonium processing plant.
All the happened BEFORE Syria went into it’s civil war.
Bravo to the Israelis who ALWAYS save the West and themselves from annihilation. Just as at Osirak 1981, so too at Deir ez-Zor in Syria 2007.
Not buying the “The Jew did it” story
Are you sure that pic is not from the Manchester bombing?
Did you see the pic at #23?
“Beeg bada-boom.”.
INDEED!
“Surface explosion usually go up and out. This one burrowed a deep hole with a steep slope as if it were directed to the ground.”.
dumb ass that planted the “bob” failed to read the directions and put it upside down. Too bad “Fat Boy wasn’t there.

“...something planted beneath the surface.”..
Funny they NOK’s didn’t report it as a gas leak.
I was thinking the same thing.
Uh, no; 50 feet is really, really deep and would take a much larger explosion, buried deeply, to make a crater of that depth. I going to guess that you haven't much experience with explosives (or dimensions).
My experience is somewhat more lengthy, including taking part in the detonation of nuclear weapons a mile or so into a mountain. You should see the chambers that are created afterward by the fireball.
The closest (in time) Google Earth overflight in the current online public database is 4-27-2004 -- by which time the crater had been partially backfilled -- with bulldozer "push-paths" clearly marking the crater site (at 39.982878, 124.458985). At that date, the pool of standing water in the bottom was still clearly visible on Google Earth.
There is no dimension of the crater that is even half of the cited "72 meters". Measured generously, its longest dimension (in line with the train track) is less than 31 meters.
That terminal pool is almost exactly the dimensions of one of the surviving boxcars just to the west of the crater.
IMO, the explosion of high-VOD military grade explosives filling one (possibly two) similar-sized boxcar(s) could have created the depicted crater..
