The NFL rejected a one-page ad for the league’s Super Bowl LII program that was calling for people to “please stand” during the national anthem out of respect for veterans.
AMVETS submitted an ad with the message “Please Stand,” according to the veteran organization, who said the same ad was accepted by the NHL and NBA for their respective All-Star Game programs.
The NFL has been under fire for allowing players to take a seat or kneel during the anthem, which is played before every game. The gestures stem from free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s protest in 2016. The former 49ers quarterback took a knee to protest against police violence, specifically against African-Americans and people of color.

OK...so we will reject the NFL’s request to “please watch” the Superbowl.
It can’t be “America’s Sport”, if they cut America out of it.
Yes, it would bring too much attention to the quality of players the NFL coddles. No way are they going to put such a focus and testimony in print.

They need to create an ad showing 80+ year old veterans struggling to stand for the national anthem. I saw one on the news the other day being helped up to stand. It was very moving. Compare that to the pampered multi-millionaires who defile the flag with their misguided “take a knee” tantrums.
And I’m rejecting the NFL’s “Let’s Listen Together” so-called-social-justice campaign, so there you go...
The NFL is proving the axiom that change is hard, but self-destruction is easy. They deserve Goodell.
Haven’t watched one game this year, didn’t miss it. I hear there’s some kind of big game coming up, don’t care.
This is really vile and Anti-American of the NFL. The leadership is turning out to be a bunch of bums. I think I’ll bag the superbowl, even though the Eagles are in it. Why can they not stand a little controvery? Are they afraid they may have to reverse their position on the slugs who kneel during the Anthem? Cowardly slobs!
That vet wasn’t 80 that was 94 yr. old permanently injured, KS US Senator Robert (Bob) Dole, being helped out of his wheelchair to stand, with his hand over his heart to the American flag!
