The United States Marine Band is known as the “Presidents Own”.

Dated a marine generations ago. He proudly conveyed that he served in the only branch of the military which reports directly to the president and was therefore “The President’s own.” You are probably right about the band and I am probably right about the way many marines view their service to our country.
