The plastic feeder acted as a greenhouse, and the birds would sleep in the feeder attached to our kitchen window during the coldest part of winter.

Chopin etude? I don’t recognize it. Which etude is this supposed to be?
My notes don’t show any more. The piece was from a Nature CD. The copyright information giving me permission to use the piece says “Chopins Etude-UPPM - Killer Tracks - Network”
I, too, wish I had more information on it.
I have been buying bird feed by the tons it seems thinking that I am going to attract the birds mentioned on the packages. . . only to be visited on a regular basis by sparrows and a few pigeons gobbling up the seed. I felt a little chagrined and then had a “taken to the woodshed” mental moment . . . “Sparrows lives matter”, too! :)
I’m sure there’s people with better advice. What I’ve found is that cardinals want to eat standing on something, so I platform feed for them. They really like the tiny white safflower seeds.
Blue jays love corn on the cob and black sunflower seeds.
Since I’ve been platform feeding, I’m not seeing the mockingbird. I still get titmice and chickadees on the platform. They seem to go for anything. The juncos rarely come onto the platform, so I always throw seed onto the ground near the table where it won’t get snow covered too badly.
I’m being very lazy in feeding. I never go out the door to fill a feeder anymore. I just open the library window and pour seed onto the platform just barely under the window bottom. I’ve put all my birdbaths, heated, onto pedestals so I can refill them from a window as well.
I’m extensively using whole peanuts to keep the squirrels fat.
Advice, anyone? I’m in Massachusetts, on the RI border.
Whole peanuts for the jays also. They will love you. Buy the 5 lb bags of unsalted at Costco or BJ’s.
A nyjer seed feeder will bring the finches.
Suet for the woodpeckers and nuthatches.
A regular feeder with wild bird mix will bring the others.
Laziness is not allowed.

Laziness R Us, these days, unfortunately. I’ve been buying Fruit and Berry mix at Briggs. I tried something cheaper but it smelled cheaper. I keep a storage box next to the window and the birdseed smell is obvious in the room. So far, only the top line seeds have smelled tolerable enough to keep open in the storage box. Been buying smaller bags of peanuts, but you make a good point about volume.
I gave up on all the feeders in the videos partly from the aforementioned laziness, but partly because every darned one of them would rot out. That’s why there are so many different ones showing. The niger seed one rotted just the same as the others. And even the one with the screen below and the cage above rotted.
Platform feeding is the way I go. I keep a broom and shovel by the window to work the snow on the platform and the outdoor table under that. There’s a stepladder to help the furry ones up to the table to eat. Though the raccoons actually jump from the cat house on the table to the platform and stare in at me. I use the house to keep bread and catfood dry, and it seemed to work for our big snowstorm, too.
All the shells get swept onto a stoned patio. Once a week, in the appropriate seasons, the gardener comes and shovels up all the detritis from the seeds. I tried wasteless seeds, and it was wasted because the birds and squirrels were definitely unhappy with their change in diet, so I went back to the good stuff.
I just throw the feed around. . .maybe I am feeding the mice. :) I have had the colorful birds before. . .maybe someone else down the road has a better menu! I have an array of seeds to choose from. I even call out “here birdie birdies, . . . . .. “. They seem to know my voice. I had some colorful little yellow birds that liked the feed earlier in the year. . .I think finches? They probably flew south. And at least 7 hummingbirds this summer. Well, I’m not giving up on the sparrows! Thanks for the advice.

I sure am eager for the return of our summer customers. The best sights are blue jays bathing and the variety of baby beggers floofing up and looking cute.
We have plenty of winter entertainers too, but the frigid weather makes me feel especially sad for them. Turkeys gaze up at the windows, always needing and expecting more fuel...

I’m a pushover for anything furry or feathered. We leave the window open in the garage for wild animals and have a heat lamp going over one of the beds. Paul put out a huge bowl of catfood before the snows fell here since we figure they wouldn’t want to make it out during the storm to the table I fill for them.
In the other videos you’ll see bald blue jays. I called the bird place and was told it was feather mites. Sign of a good parent since they got it sitting on the nest.
I spend a lot of my fantasy time trying to design shelters for wild animals that my carpenter could build.
You don't recognize it because It's not. It's some new age piano stuff. Not unpleasant on the ears, but nothing approaching Chopin's genius.
Whomever attached Chopin's name to this should be ashamed.
