Victoria Rutkowski says the man who attacked her messed with the wrong person.
"I just kept fighting and fighting," she told NBC 5.
She decided to take a short cut through an alley in the 3000 block of West 36th Street to get back to her Brighton Park home when she noticed someone behind her.
The man suddenly grabbed her from behind and starting dragging her, she said.
"I said take my phone and wallet, purse I don't care," she said. "I am thinking he's robbing me."
She says the man tried to rip off her scarf and unzip her jacket all the while she kept fighting back
"I kept trying to grab my purse and hit him over the head," she said.
Rutkowski says the man eventually ran off. Thats when she noticed blood coming from her back and legs. She was stabbed more than 50 times during the encounter.
"I still have some pain," she said. "It's only two nights ago."
She shared her story on Facebook and says she wants to be honest with others about what happened to her.
"I want women to be safe and aware of their surroundings," she said.
Police have no one in custody for the attack and they have not issued a community alert.

Brave to take a shortcut through an alley in Chicago...without at least a Model 29 on you...
“Brave to take a shortcut through an alley in Chicago”...
Not “brave” but a whole lot of “stupid”.
No description of the perp. Odds are that it would be considered “racist” to publish it.
Start by telling women not to take short cuts through an alley.
Police have no one in custody for the attack and they have not issued a community alert.
Why would they. Its only one stabbing.

In Chicago there are alleys and then there are alleys. Typical residential neighborhoods have garages behind the homes and you pull your car in and out via the alley. Brighton Park is one such neighborhood.
Brighton Park is a fairly decent part of the city. I could see most folks not thinking twice about using the alley to save some steps, especially since we are enjoying wind chills of -15 to -20 right now.

Brave for a lone woman to walk the streets of Chi Town any time day or night. Illinois is a ANTI-2nd AMENDMENT state.
Yeah, I grew up on the south side. FReepers can be judgmental even when they dont have the whole story or know nothing about an area.
Yeah, they’re too quick, knee-jerk, to blame the victim. We should be free to walk through any danged alley we want in this country and not be molested. Blame the criminals, not the victims.
...FReepers can be judgmental....

LOL You think! Props to this woman. I would love to see her and many others citizens be allowed to conceal carry.
Another one. Just like the other one:
