The Israel Antiquities Authority announced on Monday that a unique stamped piece of clay from the First Temple period, inscribed in ancient Hebrew script, was unearthed in the authority excavations in the Western Wall Plaza in Jerusalem's Old City.
The artifact originally belonged to the “governor of the city” of Jerusalem – the most prominent local position to be held in Jerusalem of 2700 years ago. According to the excavator, Dr. Shlomit Weksler-Bdolah, "the Bible mentions two governors of Jerusalem, and this finding thus reveals that such a position was actually held by someone in the city some 2700 years...

There’s actually a fair amount of archeological evidence to support the biblical account of the Divided Monarchy period. We are still waiting for the first piece from the United Monarchy period though. It’s rather frustrating.
i thought they found a small house from the David-ic period, about 10 meters or more down. Haven’t read about it, but I’ve seen it at a dig once, don’t recall from where I heard that it was David-ic. The stones were irregular shaped, put together like a Chinese puzzle.
There have been structures from the period but no documents or seals. No contemporary mentions of David or Solomon. The closest mention of David’s name was around a century after the period.
My pastor, Lon Solomon, always says, “the more they dig out of the ground, the more the Bible is proved correct.”
I listen to Pastor Lon on some Sunday mornings as I am driving to church.

Biblical texts are proven true over and over again. And yet people deny it.
I expect that eventually archeologists will find contemporary confirmation of the biblical account of the United Monarchy period. It’s a bit surprising that this has yet to happen.
Unfortunately, he just retired and I miss him so much. Best Bible teacher I have ever heard. I was privileged to call him my pastor for 25 years.
