“With them it was always the dollars, always the ____in’ dollars.”

I was lucky enough to be around when Disney was magic. I went to Disneyland in their first year of opening and was a wide eyed child. (And in many ways always was until the change after Walt died)

It was then that a transformation started from pleasing the people so they would come back to making each one pay for themselves so, with their advertising thus notoriety, they wouldn’t have to come back.

When you were a cast member, the guest, not patron or customer, was your only real concern. I was stationed in Tampa when World’s magic kingdom opened. And it was old style still. But that has changed. When you asked a question, they gave you an answer or they found out right then. Now it’s’ “I don’t know.” Used to be when you, the guest, had a problem, they had one. Now you just have a problem.

I could tell you about the screw ups at World we went through in November when we took our grand kids, but let’s just way we aren’t going back.

I got a chance to work with, and made great friends with, trainers and supervisors at Disney. In 1993, two years before I retired from the military, I was offered a position with the supervisor of hotels internationally with Disney. So I have a little inside knowledge of what is happening. I’m glad now I decided not to take it. I don’t think Walt would approve of what they took from him.

And if he was really involved with the cryogenics some have said he was. they better hope he never comes back and sees what they have done. Heads will roll.

My daughter is manger at Disney Anaheim. People still bring kids and laugh and smile at the happiest place son earth.

Last week my wife took two women her age who had never gone. There were 80,000 people at Cal Adventure and the main park. The women had the time of their lives. People at the park don’t talk politics, they have fun and many from around the world experience it for their first and only time.

My son is 50 and it’s still his go to place. Were I not in bad health I would go once year.

The park keeps raising the price and the crowds continue. Why do you think that is making walk roll over in his grave?

PS we lived in lakeland when Roy made the announcement on Fla TV. We didn’t have pot to piss in or i would have bought land in orlando. Oh well. I never wanted to work there either. i went to work in prisons, not the happiest place on earth.

“My daughter is manger at Disney Anaheim. People still bring kids and laugh and smile at the happiest place son earth.”

My point is that the happiest place on earth is not as happy as it once was. The quality is not what Walt started.

As for the parks not having political statements, you might want to look at the transformation of Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln to the Hall of Presidents. The show closed in early September 1993 and was then completely renovated and re-opened in October 1993, after Bill Clinton had been elected to office. The changes to the show, which in some form remained till early 2017, are credited to Eric Foner, a history professor at Columbia University. He was able to persuade various Disney executives, most notably then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner, that a new adaptation of the show was needed. Foner is responsible for completely rewriting and changing the script of the show in order to focus more on slavery and other ethical and civil related issues in the United States of America. And according to the Washington Examiner, in 1993, Disney had President Bill Clinton record a short speech meant to be uplifting and apolitical in nature. This tradition was carried on by Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, with their robots speaking about a united and equal America. That’s an interesting definition of apolitical.

Additionally, Disney typically writes the speech in coordination with the president, but Trump officials have insisted they will write it on their own. For a while, it was unknown if Trump’s robot would even speak, but Disney officials confirmed last month that it would. Disney officials have been silent on public criticisms of Trump over this process due to a fear of potential backlash or boycott by conservatives.

Like I said, money, money, money by the pound. And yes they do play politics. You may have to fall over it, but it’s there.

I won’t go into their multi media spread of ABC News, ESPN, their Japanese, German, and their India outlets. They try to hide it, but it’s there.
