Just little flakes this AM...
BUT it’s new England...
Awwww, cold weather is normal for you then! But I’m in the SOUTH.....
Well, yes, I live in New England NOW, but for the last 16 years I lived in South Florida.
Its interesting, usually people do the opposite :-) retire in Florida from snow country
I had thought my move to FL was permanent, but then my Mom needed me, so I went north again, ans then she passed away so here I am.
Oh ok, Now it makes sense :-) are you planning on moving south again?
Maybe you can answer something for me. Ive always been confused by people from the far north end up in Florida. Where it is so hot and humid! If they are trying to escape the cold, how about stopping halfway, where there is a nice balance of heat and cold instead of temperature extremes.
No...I’m sick of starting over and over and over. I started over here and all my family are here and i’ve picked up a few music students so I guess I’ll stay put for now.
But I loved Florida, and didn’t mind the heat and humidity at all.
And I’m part Inuit! LOL!
The Benefits of Snow - Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County
Hi everybody.
Quick question.
Half the tomatoes and squash this year were unusable due to
some kind of blossom end rot deal.
I bought a bag of gypsum at Lowes and plan a heavy
application soon and maybe by planting time, things will be
good? Am I on the right track?
It was another week of no rain here in Central Missouri. Saturday was cold and raw, but yesterday was very nice.
I should have spent some time yesterday cleaning up the kitchen garden, but got side-tracked helping #1 Daughter clean horse stalls. I built the walls from material that was left over from constructing the house. Not the best in terms of durability. One of them has been going downhill for awhile, and when I nicked it with Nanner’s loader bucket that was the last straw. It was too beat up to fix so I tore it out. Rebuilding them was already on the project list for this winter and I’ve got a good start on it now. I’ve already got most of the material on hand for the job, so it will be relatively painless to finish it up.
Thanks to the generosity of a family member, I’ll able to take most of a year off and focus 100% on my farm! I’ve already arranged with my employer to switch to seasonal instead of year-round. My last day for this season is the 23rd.
I’m really hoping to make more progress with my plant-breeding experiments, and to get my cash crops planted. I bought enough seeds for an acre of pleurisy root 2 years ago, but things kept getting in the way of actually planting them.
Anyway, this is the busy season at work, which is why I haven’t been around much. I’ll post more frequently after Christmas.
