Libertarianism or despotism

I know which one I’d prefer. Sadly, I see too many who want the other.

I remember those days; there were still jobs that were actually 9-5 (before 8:30-5 became the norm; now people have to work 8-5). When local banks here started opening on Sundays, two long-time tellers fought to keep their Sundays off on religious grounds. The bank pretended to accommodate them but within a few months both were let go under some pretense or other.

The Democrats survive because it is easy for American workers to see they’re losing ground.

If the Poles want blue laws, fine, that’s their business.

But I for one don’t what that mandated by the government here in the US.

Of course business owners have the right to close on Sundays if they want. It works for Chick Fil A. Although a couple of weeks ago I didn’t feel like cooking and was craving their Chicken Cobb Salad with the Avocado Lime dressing, but forgot it was Sunday. So I went to Panera Bread instead.

Here in central PA, especially in Lancaster county, many privately owned shops are closed on Sundays. And that’s fine by me. Although there have been a few times when I’m working a lot, including on Saturdays or get busy with yard work and other chores around the house on Saturday, on a nice Sunday morning, would love to go to Lititz and shop on their main street, but just about everything is closed. And that’s OK by me.

I also used to work retail, at onetime full time, but after I moved to PA after having been out of work for a while, I got a part time seasonal job at Target. But right after, I got a full time job. But I kept the part time job through the Christmas season.

Yes, I was working 7 days a week between the two jobs, and some days working both, but was happy to do so as I needed the extra money at the time to get back on my feet. Not being able to work on Sundays would have cut my part time job hours in half. It would also hurt many HS and college students who work in addition to attending classes full time.

I am old enough to remember being born in the early 60’s, when most stores were closed on Sunday’s and many even closed by 5 or 6 PM on weekdays, and closed even earlier on Saturdays, but then again that was there were fewer working women.

Whether one thinks going back to the “good ole” days when mom’s, including mine were more like June Cleaver would be better, it’s just not the reality today.

Also not everyone in the US are Christian. What about an Orthodox Jewish store or restaurant? They close at sunset on Friday and through sunset on Saturday. Would such a law force them to also stay closed on Sunday?

FWIW I had been going to an ophthalmologist at a Lens Crafters but he left and opened his own office with a partner and I liked him so much, that I followed him. But he and his partner were observant orthodox Jews so no Saturday office hours. But they were open on Sunday which actually worked out well for me. I’d make a Sunday morning appointment but before my appointment I’d stop at this fabulous Jewish restaurant in Pikesville, MD to have breakfast. Lox and fresh baked bagels with smear. : ),

===You’ve got six other days of the week to get everything you need. Plan accordingly.===

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!

===Poland is moving forward, not backward.===

We witness a kind of an economy miracle. Since the Conservatives came to power, the unemployment rate is lower every single month, e.g. last year in September it was 9.2, now it's 6.6% and is still falling down.

Monthly wages was at the beginning of the Law & Justice at the level of 4.090 PLN (1.0 USD was 4.1 PLN then) So, we had on average 1.000USD per month; now after several month of we have 4.520 with the currency rate at 1USD=3.55PLN. So, we get 1.270 USD and is rising!

The prices in of the same products German, Lithuanian and Slovenian stores (they use Euro currency) are even more than 100% higher. Other things like electricity, cell phone fees and prices of the domestic connections, Internet are also more friendly in Poland. For an enhanced package of 160SD/69HD channels in the Cable TV plus 150MBps connection I'm paying 40PLN for a month. (moreorless 10USD/month).

Polish GDP growth was planned by the EU commission for 2017 at 3.2%, a few weeks ago they revised their estimations to 4.5%. This will situate the Conservative Poland on top of the European Union, something its marxists rulers can't get through somehow:)

Oh, it's very much to tell. Briefly, Poland is thriving as never before. Why? Because we are with God and God is with us!

The best prove that shows the scale of it are the polls. The notes of the ruling party are still rising and if the elections took place today, the entire liberal opposition would be crushed like like a cherry under a 16Ttruck.

Take care, US friends :)
