Not sure about posting rules for the Slimes. I guess they have authors that can still write actual news articles, instead of fake news about Trump.

"...Malcolm Young of AC/DC dies at 64 years..."

RIP, Malcolm. You’re a rock n’ roll great.
Enjoyed each of the half-dozen or so AC/DC shows attended.

"Highway to Hell" VS "Stairway to Heaven" says a lot about about anticipated traffic levels.

Love to have my 67 Chevelle and 8 track of AC/DC back though.

1976 was a very good year.

I won't give the NYT a click as I can read about Malcolm's death on other websites.

I pointed out on another thread that Malcolm's older brother, George, passed away just a few weeks ago. George was a founding member of the Easybeats and also, one of my favorite all-time bands Flash And The Pan. Very strange and sad to have two Young brothers to die within a month of each other.

Was never a big fan of Malcolm's AC/DC - they rocked a bit too hard for my taste and gave me a headache! But AC/DC did have one album, "Back in Black" that resonated with me. That album came out around the end of 1980, a time when I was training for Marine Boot camp. I was getting up at 5am in the morning to go on a ten-mile run through the streets of Revere and Lynn (MA) and that was one of the cassettes that played on my Sony Walkman (remember those?). Those songs did give me a boost of energy during my runs.

Then, during boot camp in early 1981, I spent a week on mess duty and had to report to the mess hall at 3:30am to get breakfast ready. The cooks would play that album at top volume...what a wakeup call that was!

Most bands would have fallen apart with the death of their lead singer, especially someone like Bon Scott. Not only did they not fall apart, Back in Black was a monster of an album with over 50 million copies sold and makes numerous “best album” lists. I didn’t like any other AC/DC album with Brian Johnson but that one is one of my all-time favorites.

AC/DC with Scott, didn’t have a massive number of fans, although they were very rabid. Most people didn’t even know of AC/DC when Scott died. Back in Black was most peoples’ introduction to AC/DC and they ultimately discovered the back catalog with Bon as a result.

When I was young I was too cool for AC/DC - but now I can enjoy them for what they are (were?).

There are so many of us here that are truly happy to see duplicate posts on this news (okay from different sources of course) because we grew up on AC/DC. I think I became a Constitutional Conservative since I was very young partly due to For Those About To Rock.

I do indeed remember cassette players, I had one. I also remember minidisc, but never had one of those.

Undoubtedly one of the loudest, most painful and enjoyable shows I ever attended. The shows on the video monitors was half bad either.

There is one name that is the reason AC/DC rebounded after Bon Scott and the main reason why BIB was so huge.

And he wasn't a band member.

Most people didn’t even know of AC/DC when Scott died.Au contraire, Highway to Hell was the album that was their first international breakthrough and was a 7x Platinum seller. Even before Highway to Hell they had a large international following but until you make it in America you haven't made it. Highway to Hell made it big time.
