Delta details Boeing 747 farewell tour that ends in Minneapolis

Delta Air Lines will fly a Boeing 747 on an farewell tour that wraps up in Minneapolis with a hangar party in December.

Atlanta-based Delta (NYSE: DAL) is retiring its jumbo jets by the end of the year as it brings new Airbus A350 jets into service.

Best plane ever. Business class upstairs was the best.

I remember my first trip on it in 2003 with Cathay Pacific. Who knew 15 hours on a plane could be so good?!

I would be much rather be on a large cruise ship than the 747, even if takes 3-4 days to sail from US to Europe.

Same here! I always fly Boeing and love the Dreamliner. My late French husband refused to fly Airbus. Called their planes chicken coops or cattle cars. He loved Boeings.

Same here! I always fly Boeing and love the Dreamliner.

The 787 and the A350 are the only two jumbos that I've never flown.I've flown the 747 more times than I can remember.Same goes for the DC10,L1011,767 and 777.I've flown the A340 once,the A380 three of four times and the A330 about a half dozen times...all because I had no choice.

IMO it's curious that your French husband disliked Airbus.Perhaps that's because he was a true blue American who just happened to have French blood...kinda like me:Irish blood,100% American! ;-)
