Have you seen the nauseating new NFL Pro-Miliary PR campaign? Billboard ads around town here, TV ads, etc.

Vin is he of the greatest figures in baseball history...right there with The Babe, Lou Gehrig, Ty Cobb, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Sandy Koufax, Casey Stengel, Yogi Berra and Red Barber.
In the pantheon of greats, he is in the top room. And he shows again here what a great man he is.

Vin Scully will be 90 at the end of this month.
God bless him for speaking up!

Somehow, I don’t think he EVER watched football. Even during the off season, I think he watches tapes of baseball.

He broadcast NFL games at one time.

He did do the call on “The Catch,” so I’ll give him that one.

I believe that Cowboys vs 49ers NFC game The Catch was his last time calling a football game

Somehow, I dont think he EVER watched football. Even during the off season, I think he watches tapes of baseball.
He was an announcer for NFL games at one time. He famously called the 49ers-Cowboys NFC Championship game in 1981, featuring Dwight Clark's catch of Joe Montana's TD pass to send the 49ers to their first Super Bowl. I honestly can't remember Vin calling that game - for me, he'll forever be associated with summer nights and Dodgers broadcasts - but that's his voice on some of the replays of that catch.

If you watch the last five minutes of that Cowboys-Niners NFC Championship Game, Scully was brilliant building up the drama just as he did so often with baseball games, not saying too much, not saying too little, giving the analyst (Hank Stram if I recall) time to give us his insights and then came... The Catch.
Al Michaels is very good but most NFL announcers just aren’t very good or insightful.

Jack Buck was the best at calling NFL games. Haven’t heard anyone close since then.
