Ban your EarBuds and Head phones in public

Posted on 11/01/2017 7:28:31 AM PDT by CGASMIA68

Been telling folks lately to be aware. Take out those ear plugs so you can hear whats going on around you. God gave us ears to hear dangers along with all the other sound waves. Look at the gym for instance. If Abdul came in blazing how long would it take for 90% to hear it. It would be too long and too late. Told the kids, keep your ears open these days you may hear danger b4 you see it.

What are you, a liberal? I think it’d be great if people put down the ear buds and listened to the world around them... but BAN them?

Most of the folks that have noise going on in their ears full time would not be missed if they missed the sounds of the onset of a terror attack.

Learned long ago, never cover your ears when running, walking, or riding. Situational awareness is more valuable than your tunes.

“Ban your” meaning you ban yours. Didn’t say ban ear buds

You make a good point. When I go walking and want to listen to music, I use a single-ear earbud, with the sound low. That leaves one ear for the outside world.

I got my single-ear earbud from Amazon.

So are you guys saying that all of the people killed in terrorist attacks were all wearing earphones?

Somehow I think next to none were.

Next thing you know we will be talking about banning guns because that would have saved a life.

Of course mathematically speaking the likelihood that I’ll be in the target area of a terrorist attack is right around my chances to win the lottery. Changing ones behavior for something that’s not going to happen is how scared people act. If I’m in a situation where I want to wear headphone, I’m wearing headphones (not earbud, I don’t like earbuds, they’re uncomfortable and sound like crap).

I’m against banning anything. It’s a choice that I don’t need the nanny government to make for me.

Like texting while walking is now a crime in some places.................

Nope just asked the question to a state trooper at the Y this am who was not plugged in how long it would take these people to hear Abdul after he came in blazing and how many he thought had an escape route.
He said too long and he didn’t even have an escape route.

So no not bored or a liberal just very aware off my surroundings and the assholes I share them with.No mater where I am.
Hope this helps.

Probably should have banned the loud music at the concert in Las Vegas, too. So everyone could have heard the first volley and got out.

I once got pulled over by local police for wearing earbuds in the car.

It turns out that the cop mistook the neck strap on my sunglasses for earbuds, and apologized profusely when he walked up to my car. :-D

Well the reason is a bit alarmist as of now, and the remedy is overreach.
