We have a boat.....and are surrounded by liveaboards. About 400 square feet with a full galley and a bathroom. The trawler next door to me has 2 bathrooms! lol
I would love to live on a boat. I get up in the morning and sit in the cockpit and drink my coffee. Best backyard in the world. Of course I’d need a bigger boat for 2 people. Just couldn’t talk Hubby into it.

They could sleep in their car, too.

Yes, but will it fit into a parking space?

I just recently built a 20X16 cabin that has a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, open bedroom, small dining area and small living area, all electric, cable smart tv with a covered 10X16 deck. I rent it out for $600 a month all utilities paid. utilities cost me about $75 a month. Thinking about building a few more, people love them.

There is a company on I-10 east of Luling, Tx. that has building these homes.
They have multiple designs and sell the plans. Texas Tiny Houses/Homes, Luling, Tx.

for $40k you could also have a car that lets you shower at the gym and eat out all the time.

To live without freedom or dignity gets closer to the reality of the matter.

False premise. There is nothing undignified about living in a smaller space. In fact, I will actually gain more freedom by doing so - more freedom from the tax man! Why are you so hostile towards people who want to live more simply?

As I get older, I'll be looking to convert my overly large spread into a much smaller home that I own outright. After all, when I die, I'm not taking my home with me.

No heat (not buying the self insulating), no water, no sewer, no kitchen. What’s the point? Save that $40k and live in a cardboard box.

You couldn’t get a queen sized bed up those teeny stairs. In fact, none of the pictures shows a bedroom and the article never mentions a bedroom. IOW, there’s no room for a kitchen or a bedroom. The whole thing is a joke.

And another story for a guest bedroom

There's no mention of a first bedroom.

It’s cheaper to buy an RV or travel trailer.

There were trees to pee behind in those days. Today, they just pee on the streets.

Cool. Now if the government will just pay the mortgage, this will be my stay-free mini-pad.

.
You’re missing the whole point of the “Tiny House.”

Its not about living more simply; its about having your space regulated by your betters.
