As an envious non-musician, there’s more than enough praise to go to everyone who can make such wonderful sounds. Knowing people can hear these notes in their head is awesome.
Hummel was basically known as one of the best pianists and piano composers in his day, but he rather quickly gets forgottenso forgotten that, well, when people today hear "Hummel" they think of little dolls rather than piano music.
I mentioned that Hummel once wrote a concerto for orchestra and mandolin, in very Classic era style. The first movement is here, the second movement here, and the third movement here.
