Active Self Protection has a ton of useful videos with commentary; in these crazy times, we should all be able to handle ourselves if attacked, or know how to react. I highly recommend.

Yep. Who would ever have dreamed that Las Vegas would be turned into the “Beruit of the West”. Actually, a large gathering of people anywhere, especially those with a conservative slant, is now considered a prime target for the insane left, ISIS and/or deep state.

Thank you so much for posting this! It was nice to know that the conclusions I came to regarding “what would I do? What does my med kit need?” meshed nicely with his.

He didn’t mention sanitary napkins (great for pressure bleeds) and now I’m wondering how to fit those around my ankle, inside my Justin boots! Oh, the sacrifices we make for safety/fashion!

Amazon assures me that my tourniquets, Israeli bandage and quick clot will be here Monday. One always has to learn from these really horrible events.

I like the way this gentleman presented his info.

Me too, but be forewarned... if you start watching his videos, you'll quickly find yourself binge watching more of them. John is like potato chips that way. :)

That's just Monday morning quarterbacking. What would they say? What exactly did they know at the time?

Yeah, at first I had that thought "there should have been an announcement of some kind" but then you have to consider that nobody knew what was going on at first. Some folks heard what they thought was gunshots, so, okay, get off the stage...you're a sitting duck up there, maybe they thought Jason was the target. Who knows.

Instead we should consider "how would I react in that situation?"

Would I recognize the sound as gunfire, and more importantly, that it was coming *at* me? And then what? Do I duck in place, or do I find cover? Where is the nearest cover? Am I responsible for those around me, or are my friends/family my #1 priority? Am I more at risk from the gunfire, or from a panicked crowd? So, do I shelter in place (behind a sturdy barricade) or do I join the throngs for an exit and hope I'm not trampled?

Now think about what impact a PA announcement "get out of here! That's gunfire! Run!" would have on the crowd. The casualties may well have been much higher, and that's just from the stampeding herd effect.

Or maybe not, it's impossible to know, which is why it's pointless to attack the concert organizers for not making an announcement.

I say all this with all due respect, I don't mean to criticize you or anyone else who may share that view. I merely want people to think it through is all.

The band announcement would have set off a stampede. Then you got injured people laying all over the place. Stampede injuries. But yeah, they should have all left a little earlier.

1. "You're being shot at"

2. They knew enough to run off the stage as fast as the could.

Any more questions?

One thing interesting about that video. At 10:09 He clearly was firing a burst inside the hotel. At least it appears that way. So he shot at the guard then. 4 minutes after shooting began. And that is close to the Sheriff’s timeline. Then he was firing again outside hotel. So the guard interruption let him know time was severely limited for him. My initial analysis anyways.

Thank you for mentioning them. I only recently added tourniquets and Israeli bandages to the kit I carry in my car. Because of your comment I read up on the topic. I was missing the knowledge of how the fibrous material encourages clotting.

Well... yes.

1) Who makes the announcement, and on what authority? I hope you aren't implying the band should? They probably had no idea... they had earpieces in, may not have even heard the shots and were just reacting to the roadies waving them offstage.

2) If it turns out they were wrong and people were injured in the stampede that would surely follow, is that person liable for creating a panic?

Dunno... if I were there and had control of the soundboard and a mic, I wouldn't have done anything. I guess you would have... you're better than me. Of course I probably had headphones on too so I could hear the mix, but hey, you be you.

How about anyone standing in front of a microphone?

And what do you mean they had no idea what was happening? Did they not run off stage like they were on fire?

Get real.

Meh... agree to disagree. The sound board was probably shut down when they all took off.

I just get kinda bummed when people were saying "why didn't the band say something" when I doubt they had a clue what was happening... but like I said, agree to disagree. We can still be friends. :)

My guess is the stage manager or event manager yelled evacuate the stage into their ear pieces. All bolted at same time.

They were had a raised platform directly over the crowd, they must had a birds eye-view and probably heard the gunfire amplified over the PAs.
