I remember the school drills in the 50s, not much has changed. Duck and cover under your desk. The mine put supplies on the 500 crosscut drift. However, at the time the mine produced 10% of the country’s copper so it would have been the only likely target out in the desert foothills 70 miles east of Phoenix in a town of 4,000.
