This is a pro-family, pro-traditional family forum. And someone who tries to defend that is castigated by those who laud a man who perhaps did more than any other to destroy the Christian foundation of our nation?

Your defense of the likes of one such as Hugh Hefner, an avowed enemy of Christianity, is indefensible. You condemn (rightly) a priest who committed moral indiscretions, but praise a man who perhaps did more than any other in our lifetime to destroy Christian morality.
So where are you “wardaddy”? What a joke you are. Defending one of the greatest enemies of Christianity in our lifetime, while admitting “wink wink” to your own obsession with porn. And all the while boasting about your Christian faith? How does your wife feel about all this?

A repentant heart does not look bad fondly on past sins. If you don’t have sadness to think of the offense these sins were to God then your attitude is like that of Lot’s wife.

That trait was the dark side of the Puritan culture that settled parts of New England. A habit of self-righteous finger pointing that we still see in the secular leftism that much of that culture has devolved into.
They weren’t just nasty to strangers, the early ones used banishment to punish anyone who strayed from their rigid ideas- and in those days banishment could equal a death sentence. IIRC Rhode Island became a haven for those who were kicked out of the Puritan towns. And it’s no surprise that the witch craze took root there and not in the other colonies.
We tend to think of ‘yankee’ only in contrast to the South at the time of the Civil War, but it goes way back in the North where yankee culture was seen as a distinct offshoot of the Puritans and its immediate neighbors weren’t fond of them. Clyde Wilson wrote on this, I think this is his essay:

I agree with you on Hefner. Looking back, as a 68 year old, I can see the lasting damage he is responsible for. Some look back and let nostalgia of the past guide their views. The culture has been in decline for decades. Was Hefner solely for responsible, no, but he was a major contributor to the decline.
Amen. Thanks for your post. I have received unbelievably hatric responses from those who claim to be Christian but defend this monster who did perhaps more than anyone in our generation to destroy Christian morality. I will not back down, however, and shudder to think of the unspeakable horror that awaited Hugh Hefner upon the instant of his death. I am but a miserable sinner saved by grace. Thank you again.
