The San Francisco 49ers Thursday night game against the Los Angeles Rams kicked off in front of a nearly empty stadium.

Los Angeles Times reporter Lindsey Thiry tweeted a photo at the time of kickoff, which showed thousands of open seats. In fact, most sections in the photo have more empty seats than fans.

Tickets at some recent games could be had for $6, less than the price of a movie ticket in LA at $8 and change.

And that huge stupid Pepsi logo that looks like the descending sweep of one of those decapitation swords they use over in Saudi Arabia.

To me the first pic looks like about 25% of the seats are occupied, the second looks like maybe 50%, max.

I wonder how they got the people to stay up in the nosebleed seats when there were plenty of seats available closer to the field.

I love it! 20 years ago I was a knowledgeable and avid fan of both the NFL and NCAA. Now, I don’t watch 20 minutes a year, not counting the SuperBowl parties I might go to. If not a COMPLETE waste of time, at the most it is unproductive and uninteresting to me now. Others are free to disagree and spend their time on this Earth anyway they please.

Cowboy Stadium - filled to the brim:

Love him or hate him, Jerry Jones said he'd fire any player who disrespected the American flag.

I’m unhappy that a great American sport is failing. But I’ll be very happy to see those thugs...er, I mean players, go back to poverty once they blow all their salaries...

I ran across an article somewhere yesterday, maybe Drudge, where cable companies were anticipating losing customers by 5% every year from now on. I’m guessing that number is far too low.

Even if they relented and allowed customers a la carte programming, it may be too late. The customers have had a look outside. I cut cable many years ago now and it turned out to be something I am very grateful for having done.

Seating capacity is 68,500.

Looking at the two pics, apparently a bunch of folks were late for the game. Not that that makes any difference.

The first pic is stunning. NFL/ESPN/player’s union/et al need to wake up. Your business plan has been smashed by a relative handful of people. Now what cha gonna do?

You mean, was it force of habit or automatic weapons?

And yet people still chose to sit behind the end zone and in the nose bleed seats. SMH

The game started at 5:30 PM local time, so most fans probably couldn’t have arrived on time even if they tried.

The more expensive seats are noticeably most vacant.

Scalpers will unload those tickets at ANY price after the kick off. The tickets are worth zero after the game. If you show up at the stadium with $40 cash in your pocket you are in the drivers seat.
