“Held my nose, voted for him, then took a shower”.

You need to be thankful that you didn’t get to live with the hideous stench of Hitlery.

I like it that he defied Ryan and McConnell. Trump did say in the primary against Cruz that we have to make deals, but why is he leaving DACA up to congress when they support open borders, and where is funding for the wall.

Trump changed the focal point on the lever, IMO.

Did Levin say he was for an 18 month spending bill that would
put renewal up after elections?
Or a 3 month spending bill that would have to be addressed
again before primaries and the general elections?

The GOP wanted an 18 month spending bill.
Trump wanted a short term spending bill.

MAGA was a big harry @$$3d lie.

Not a lie, just a naive misunderstanding of how the world works.

I take it that you are one of the most shallow posters on FR. Hillary was never an option, but neither did I believe Trump was serious about all the bilge he pumped.

I see President Trump using unorthodox methods to repeatedly flummox his adversaries (on both left and right). What makes you think their is no method to this madness?

McConnell apparently floated an 18 month debt extension, pushing the issue beyond the 2018 elections. Trump has endorsed a shorter term - retaining the leverage for a slightly delayed impact on the elections.

Trump is not a politician - he is a businessman. His “leverage” will not be a political style of push - it will be business-style, which should actually be effective.

Time, as they say, will tell.

Bingo!!!

Sometimes Levin is very spot-on...other times he totally ignores pertinent facts...this is one of the times he ignores pertinent facts.

conservatives have plenty of leverage after the DACA decision.

Correct, there's no reason to hold up the hurricane relief, and it makes Trump look compassionate with Moderates and not "literally Hitler" to Independents. We still need these people in 2018.

The wall will be built no matter what, and we can have the fight through DACA later down the road.

Just look at this thread, about 4 out of 5 do not analyze properly and argue every logical fallacy in the book. Yet Trump continues to accomplish MAGA goals with a long term view and pragmatic approach.

It was his signature item.

However, if it were going to get done in totality, it would have been done in the first 2-3 months. I don’t think it will happen unless he primaries out of GOP members and sends a message.

I do believe they will be able to get some of it in the infrastructure bill by generalizing it in some way.

If I were going to shut down the govt and risk a credit rating bump, I’d do it for the tax cuts personally. THAT is far more important.

Yep, Levin has it backass backwards.

So Levin should ask himself who is for a budget/tax cuts? As we know as real conservatism. It’s not Ryan who wants authorized spending for as long as he can get it without any consequences. Spend spend and spend some more. Ryan want to forget Trump’s budget...we don’t need no stink’n budget.

Not really, his supporters weren’t voting on tax cuts.
