A hawk sought shelter in a Houston man’s taxi while Hurricane Harvey approached Texas on August 25.

William Bruso came back to his taxi after stopping to stock up on food and supplies for the storm, when he realized a Coopers hawk was sitting in the passenger seat of his car.

When the wind is southerly, I know a hawk from a rickshaw.

Eventually, Bruso was able to coax the hawk to the car door, where he could pick him up and move him out

You’re a braver man than I, Bruso.

It’s amazing that it seems you can see an expression on that hawk’s face of fear, confusion and exasperation.

Good thing it wasn’t a bald eagle. The federal government would declare his cab a nesting place and he would never get his cab back !!!!

I’d have been a LOT more comfortable throwing a piece of baloney on the seat and just driving rather than pick that flying bag of exacto knives up.

I’d bet it was used in falconry for a while and is used to humans.

Should have taken it to the nearest open KFC and given it a few bucks for dinner.

My wife and I were driving on the Kangamangus Highway up in New Hampshire a few years back, when something caught my eye on the side of the road. I thought it was a dirty rag, but I saw it again, and it was the wing of a large bird.

I pulled over, and it was a Barred Owl, just hit by a passing truck. I thought it was dead, then saw it was breathing, though its wing appeared misshapen.

I got a large boot bag (for ski boots) that was empty, and put the owl in it so we could take it to a raptor center about 10 miles away. I left about three inches unzipped to let air in.

My wife was driving, and I was in the passenger seat with the bag on the floor between my legs. We had gone a few miles, when the bag started moving abruptly and somewhat violently.

As I watched, a large talon appeared, then poked through the air hole and began clenching and waving around! (between my legs, on the floor!)

I have a vivid imagination...

We made it and dropped it off...they sent us a card a few months later saying it had been released.

LOL, and I didn’t even have to star in an episode of “Ow, My Balls” to tell it!

LOL

If you're traveling west on the Kang, at the end, you may travel through Warren, NH. Be sure to stop and see the NASA Red Stone rocket on the town green.

Quite a sight and quite a surprise...the *last* thing you'd expect to see in such a remote, wild area.

You were convicted of harming a bald eagle weren’t you?
