I don’t think the NY Slimes made anything up. McConnell and the GOP establishment are feeding them this stuff. It is what they do. They’ve hated Trump since Day 1 and would like nothing else to impeach him to send him and other outsiders a message.
The only thing Trump has are his supporters. Everyone. Republicans. Democrats. Media. Corporations. Deep State. Everyone else is against him.

Once again, why is Drudge a part of the drum beat against Trump?
It’s funny how the RINOs think they are the party. The reality is that the overwhelming majority of republicans voted for Trump. While McConnell struggled in his small state. If Trump was stabbed in the back by his party, its the republican party that would die.
Real conservatives make up most of the party. And if thats not the type of people McConnell wants to be associated with. He will not be a majority leader very much longer. In fact their may be a third party that is bigger than whats left of his party.
Both the republican and democrat part are governed by donations (payoffs). Conservative ideals never seem to have enough votes. That’s because the money is giving a few RINOs all the power. Trump was elected without outside money. So he is in line with the voters. But out of step with the money that rules the party.
The never trumpers in congress would be happy to be in the minority like the losers they are.
I remember Rush Limbaugh saying (when the GOP allegedly got control of Congress), that the pubbies should be sending a repeal bill up to BHO every week, and watch him veto it.
Shame on Mitch if this is true.

Trump made a big mistake when he tried to make nice with the GOPe - installing Paul Ryan buddy Reince Priebus as chief of staff. Given how there are many fewer leaks since Priebus’ departure, many believe he was the source of many of the WH leaks.
Trump endorsed Ryan, McCain and others during rough primaries. Big mistake.
Hired McConnell’s wife for the cabinet.
How has all of that worked out for him? Legislation passed? Obamacare repealed? Ryan dumps on him on CNN of all places, and now this from McConnell.
It’s like that Shakespeare in the Park production of Julius Caesar only it’s real.
McTurtle had better be worried about saving Congress.
