Vanity: Google is shooting themselves in the foot

Like so many of my fellow freepers, I have real intellectual problems with Google and the way it operates, but I've tended to stick with them because their news search function was extremely helpful. But they've changed things and their news search is much less helpful now.

You used to be able to narrow the time window of your search for old news/data releases, but how to do that is no longer at all obvious. I've been looking for the results of the July 25 Consumer Confidence report from the Conference Board. Using the search terms "consumer confidence conference board july 25" and I get not a single item with a reference to consumer confidence or conference board in the title. I see nowhere the old tab for narrowing the search and don't see an option to scroll down for further results. Any tips on other search engines with a news search tab would be appreciated.

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index®, which had declined marginally in June (a downward revision), improved in July. The Index now stands at 121.1 (1985=100), up from 117.3 in June. The Present Situation Index increased from 143.9 to 147.8, while the Expectations Index rose from 99.6 last month to 103.3.

That is from the top Google search return item accessed using the phrase “consumer confidence board” and advanced search, which is what I always used. Are you using advanced search?

Do an image search of “white couple” see what comes up.

Do also one on black couple.

My attitude toward using Goolag is the same as Stalin’s toward capitalists rope, I will use it to hang them with.

Use Bing or DogPile instead.

I haven't used Google as a search engine for years now.

They are too biased and slant to the Left.

Same thing on Bing.

I think Bing has gone Google.

Noticed it a while back. I only use Duck Duck go.

Vanity: Google is shooting themselves in the foot

We should encourage them to keep doing that and more. Google is the spy system for the new STASI state.

They need to be busted up with anti-trust legislation.

Google News is really bad now and is all one column, with no apparent option to set it to two columns, and a lot of unwanted stuff like the Orwellian Fact check section.

Google is a monopoly, and paid-in-full member of the surveillance, financialized deep-state.

As with all revolutionary technologies, from oil to auto to computers, they moved from start-up, to pre-eminence, to elite control.

Showing two Privileged Oppressors together as a couple would be racist.

Scott Adams of Dilbert fame suggested either breaking them up as a monopoly, since they control nearly all online ad revenue, significant search content (they own Youtube and that’s 20% alone), and search.
Another is regulating them like a utility as the FCC does TV stations, so they HAVE to respect conservative content and not be allowed to apply business biases to search results and content.
