The link is for a synopsis. This available on Netflix in the US
I haven't done one of these in a while.
You can find previous installments by using the search terms: "Asian Movies"
This is a 36 episode serialized romantic drama about the lives of three young women from different parts of China who find romance, marriage and love in Shanghai. Unlike similar dramas from Taiwan or South Korea this one is somewhat bitter-sweet so watch with tissues. Not for diabetics.
I don't normally like sweet romance themed shows unless they are comedic but this one was good.
This is a good series for those who haven't been to China to see because it shows a variety of socioeconomic classes and gives a pretty good idea of how people, at least in the major cities of China live.
My Chinese wife has no idea what the title means. As there is no Chinese language title given your guess is as good as mine as to what the title means.
An interesting feature of this film is that it has stars from the PRC, Taiwan and Hong Kong working side by side.
Starring:
Tang Yan as Cheng Yun
Sui Tang as Song Di Zh
Liu Dong as Shen Guang Hui
You Sheng as An Xiao Lu
Bosco Wong as Lin Fang Wen
Zheng Kai as Tian Hong

Not to split hairs, but the second to the last word is Nu, it means female.
I found that on a Wiki site for the thread poster. I don’t speak, read or write any type of Chinese.
Good job translating, still.
I am not fluent, but speak and write a bit.

Sorry for the double post.
Am actually at an open sidewalk cafe at the moment, the connection is not at all good here.
And even after 47 years, I know exactly what that smells like.
I love the fact that Netflix is showing asian movies and TV shows.. I binge watched the Korean series Bad Guys. It’s great to get another cultures perspective, and subtitles don’t distract from a great show, as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon showed in it’s theatrical release.
Keep it up netflix.
But out of Asia, my favorite films are Japanese.
And out of the Japanese, my favorite filmmaker is Kurosawa.
And of all Kurosawa's films the standout has to be...
Could you recommend a good website where you can order DVD’s of classic Japanese films? A site that is in English. With a wide selection.
Just do a search the net I suppose.
Most of the stuff I have I got from video stores - back when there used to be video stores.
(In some larger metro areas there still are such places.)
Haha, yup.
I was however, at a cheap sidewalk coffee shop.
It is like if you have a half block of open space in an urban setting, which is filled with folding seating in the afternoon and the evening, then closes around 10 - with everything being cleared out then.
In the afternoon they have big umbrellas they erect to keep the sun off everyone’s head, and when it rains they are also good for that, as well.
But there are so many sidewalk places here, I know what you’re talking about. A LOT of coffee places however.
It’s sort of, totally what this place is about.
Best regards.
That’s why when I do these I try and pick a range of films.
