Today, the CEO of the Silver Star Families of America, Steven J. Newton, came out strongly against, what he called “erasing the artifacts of this nation’s past.”
“Using statues, monuments, and other artifacts as an excuse for civil disobedience is an affront to the heritage of this nation and of the men and women who founded it not to mention the men and women who died for it. Destroying or dismantling parts of our history will only lead us down the road of having no history. And that will leave us in a turbulent sea without an anchor.”
Newton continued: “The Silver Star Families of America, SSFOA, is a nonprofit that represents the wounded, ill, injured and dying veterans and members of our armed forces from all wars. Thus we have a vested interest in making sure the resting places and monuments to hero’s, from all wars and on both sides of the civil war, are preserved and respected.”
“CAIR has called for the total erasure of confederate history. In our opinion they are committing a crime against the American people.
“Representing our military, we have butted heads with CAIR before and we hereby give notice that we will not stand idly by for this carnage. “

“It is past time for real Americans to legally stand up to this tyranny. I challenge other veteran’s organizations to join in and let your elected officials know how you feel. Veterans: The call of duty has come to you once again. Do what is legal and safe, but do what is right. Let’s end this before a part of our heritage is stolen from us.”
