Thank you!
In the beginning, the Internet was disproportionately populated by the educated and intelligent, by serious people.
Now it is infested by quasi-literates who can be counted upon to execrate the so-called “grammar Nazi,” their scariest boogy-man.
But I think I get it. The major reason that it is so hard to convince a leftard that the LSM lie constantly is that he has believed those lies, probably for decades. He believes that he is sufficiently intelligent that he could not have been so completely taken in. You’re not just telling him that the LSM lie; you’re saying, “They lie, and you were not smart enough to detect it.”
In a similar fashion, people don’t want to be told, “You are not educated and intelligent enough to speak English correctly.” Of course, that is not the implication. Pretty much everybody has some misunderstanding that remains uncorrected. Rush Limbaugh misused the phrase “as such” for years. Maybe he still does, I don’t know.
Benjamin Franklin gave us the reply to this oversensitivity. “...for having lived long, I have experienced many instances of being obliged by better information or fuller consideration to change opinions even on important subjects which I once thought right but found to be otherwise...”
If it angers you to have your grammar corrected, you need to grow up.
That in and of itself is debatable...............
Very good!.....A++...........
“That in and of itself is debatable.”
Well, that’s the way I remember it.
The question people should ask is not whether they are smart enough, but whether they have the courage to accept that this pet opinion or that might just be nonsense.
How many times have you demonstrated to someone that 2 + 2 = 4 only to have them disregard the facts and insist that the correct sum is 5?
I guess that in some cases the person might fail to understand because he is, in fact, not smart enough. In many cases, though, I think it is because he cannot endure the damage to his pride.
You can usually guess the other person’s IQ distance from room temperature after a few repartees to within a few degrees..............
I don’t think that is true of everyone.
If it were, at least once in a while you’d see somebody saying, “I believe the opposite of what he said, but he’s clearly a lot smarter than I, so I’d better take another look at this.”
Instead, you see, “His disagreement with me shows that he is of low intelligence,” even when that is clearly not the case.
Well, if you start out with a condescending attitude, like a liberal does, you wind up with that example for an outcome.................
True. There are many people, though, who are driven into a fury at the thought that an ideological enemy might be smarter than they.
Notice how liberals, in general, react when you dare to contradict their assumptions with real life examples or facts that dispute theirs.
Instead of giving any credence to your side of the argument, they go berserk and start calling you all sorts of names and impugning your character. Typical Sociopathic behavior...............
Well, it can be viewed as a mental disorder, as G. K. Chesterton did a hundred years ago.
My view is that Satan gets away with a lot, since so few people believe in him.
Satan’s greatest trick is to make people believe he doesn’t exist.......................
“Satans greatest trick is to make people believe he doesnt exist.”
Yup.
His second greatest trick is making people believe that Hitler and the Nazis were right-wing.
